I can finally see my kitchen!! So my plan as it stands is to simply eat most of my meals at home, eating as much unprocessed food as possible. As most of you know, I am terrible about eating out all the time. I think that if I gear myself to eating at home most of the time, that will in and of itself give me some initial results, and if nothing else save money! I also plan to eat fresh veggies and/or fruit every meal.
Next step....get back to the gym! There are plenty by me so I have no excuse, especially since I am still not working.

Good for you Robin! I'm sure that will be good for both your wallet and your waistline. I wanted to encourage you to do some planning. Even if you aren't up to a whole week's worth at a time, try to at least figure out a few meals that you'd like to do this week and get those groceries in the house. Makes it much more likely that you'll get it made.
I do much better if I plan for a week at a time but I realize that is a pretty daunting task if you haven't been doing any.
You have done not just a good thing to your wallet, but body too. (But you already know that)
I just wanted to say this, I am not trying to jinx anything. Really start slow and easy when cooking at home. I am a product of a person who did not enjoy cooking all too much and still doesn't. So whenever we are together we eat out more than we eat in.
SO... I really has to teach myself to cook (thanks to FN and Rachael Ray) and I saw how fun and easy it can. But if you are ahead of me HAVE FUN!
Sorry about my rant there, I just wanted to forewarn you.

Robin, EXCELLENT baby sep... I am really sure that if that is the only change you make - you will lose weight! Especially, if you pick lower fat, sensible cooking methods.
Yay!!

This will save you both calories and money, so great job! Even a frozen pizza at home (carefully chosen) is better than takeout pizza. And at home you can make a huge salad to go with it.

That is a great baby step. I don't know how many you are cooking for, but for my lunches, which only I eat, I make one of KD's recipes on Monday and portion it out for a week of lunches. Since so much of her stuff is morph-able I don't get sick of it and then something healthy is ready and waiting. I do the same thing with veggie sides. I prep a few when I have time and then keep them in the fridge for snacking or side dish emergencies.
Keep up the good work!

Robin, sounds like a great plan, and yes, that is definitely a fantastic baby step! And if it will help, start posting in the What's for Dinner thread....that oftentimes helps me
