Hi all. I'm not sure if I'm doing this right or not. We finally joined the 21st century and got on-line last week. So this is all new to me.
A little about myself: I am a homeschooling-stay-at-home-mother of 3 in Southern California. I am a cooking-thin junkie and was so excited to find this site yesterday. KD's philosophy of cooking has totally changed the way my family eats. For the first time, really, I am focusing on eating healthy and not being on a "diet."
I have embraced fresh fruits and veggies and now am embarking on my whole-grain phase. I started developing new convictions reading a book called "Super Baby Food" for feeding my little one, but have learned alot of new things about nutrition for the rest of the fam as well.
Thanks for the warm welcome!
By the way, does anyone know if there are any new cooking thin episodes in our future?
Hi Schoolmom!
I am Lori, and I am also a stay at home homeschooling mom...only I have 4 children! And guess what, I also live in CA I live in Central CA between Fresno and Bakersfield.
I am 36 (will be 37 in 2 days ) and have been married to my best friend for over 15 years now. We have been blessed by 4 beautiful children .... 3 daughters that are 12, 7 &4, and a son that is 9. The 3 younger ones all have birthdays later this summer and in the fall. We've been homeschooling since oldest daughter (dd= dear daughter) was 3 1/2 or so. We are in it for the long haul We started a whole foods lifestyle (keeping our food as close to it's natural form as possible--whole grains, natural sweeteners, etc) for about 10 years now, and I've been "cooking thin" for over 2 years now. KD has also made a big impact in our family, and my youngest daughter has grown up watching Cooking Thin with me each week since she was a nursing infant This past spring a few of us California forum members had the opportunity to meet KD in San Francisco, and I got to tell her that Rachel said "Miss Daelemans is my favorite cooker" Rachel was THRILLED that I told her that
Anyhow, welcome to the forum, I'm so glad you're here, and this is really a great place! Super friendly, super supportive, and loaded with great ideas!
Blessings,
Lori

Thank you for the hello. And welcome to you as well.
I have been watching CT for at least a couple of years, but was not on-line until last month. It is nice to communicate with other fans wit the same types of health goals and concerns as I have.
It is so great that you homeschooled for jr. high and high school. So many people ask me "you're not going to homeschool all the way through are you?" I want to and it is always great to hear of someone who has done the older years.

Welcome!!! I am new to the site also. Just wanted to say hello! I am still learning. My problem isn't eatting too much but not enough- sounds sad. Anyway I have a 17 year old son. I homeschooled from 6th-12th. He graduated this year. He left the nest to visit my sister and I know it won't be long before he spreds his wings and flies away but those years I will never forget. I saw Kathy in person at a Health Fair in DE and she was great. Watching her in person was a blast and she is so nice.
Regarding your question about Cooking Thin on FN. New shows are not expected. We are hoping KD can hook up with someone & get back on the air somewhere but until then we watch the re-runs and occasionally e-mail Food Network so they know there are still a lot of us watching (including newbies) and hopefully not take the re-runs off.
I look up and post the schedule each month. The re-runs are moving from Friday's to Tuesdays starting June 28 (we actually get two shows that week, Tues. & Friday)

It has been great for our family. Are you going to the CHEA Homeschool Convention in Ontario in July? I wanted to go to the Bay Area one in April, but had been gone the 3 weekends prior to it, and couldn't justify another weekend away or the finances We are going to the Fresno convention this weekend, and I am REALLY looking forward to that! One of these days I hope to go to the SoCal or the Bay Area convention though

Welcome, Kathy! Kudos to you for homeschooling your kids and cooking healthier for your family.
There was a new reality show on TV last night called "The Scholar" and one of the favorites of the admissions judges is a kid who is homeschooled...cept it appears he pretty much did it on his own from what he and his parents said. Sounds like a very motivated and intelligent young man!
I'm Sheri, by the way. Single, age 52, and living in Wash. DC suburbs. Been living healthy for two years come July 1st and have lost half the weight I need to lose but have been plateauing for a long time now and hoping to break through that and get the rest of this weight off of me.
Feel free to ask any questions. We're a friendly and helpful bunch!

Hi Lori. Thanks for the welcome. That's great that you homeschool also. It sounds like you must be quite a pro. We have only been at it for a year, but it has been a great year. My husband and I are more convinced with each day that it is the right thing for our family.
How fun it must have been to meet kd. I would have loved to have been there!
Bye! Kathy
