My boyfriend has been away doing some freelance work for the past 2 & 1/2 months. When he left I used the situation to start fresh with some healthier choices. I've been going to the gym like crazy, cooking healthy foods instead of ordering in, and cutting down on drinking (since I've been overall less social). So, though I've missed him, this has been a positive time for me.

Now he's coming back, either this week or next, and I have to say I'm worried about how I'm going to keep my healthy habits up. It was easy (well, easier anyway) when I was the only one I had to worry about.

He does cook, and what he makes is fairly healthy, but the portions are much bigger than what I've been eating over the past couple of months.

I know that I'm just going to have to explain to him that I have to keep up what I've been doing on my own, that we can't go to the diner for breakfast every Saturday & Sunday, that I'm going to disappear to the gym a lot. I kind of feel like he's going to have to bend to suit me, at least in the cooking part of it. I'm just scared for the change in what has become a very positive routine. I've been doing too well to slide back, but that's exactly what I'm afraid of.

Not to mention that we're both freelance now, so we might be home staring at eachother all day. But, that's another story.

Just worrying out loud. Thanks for listening.

You didn't say how much progress you made in the time your boyfriend was gone, but based on the changes in your routine, I bet it's significant. When your boyfriend sees you, I'm sure he'll want to do everything he can to help you keep it up!

But you should be prepared to be patient with him. Change is hard, even when it's for the better. Try to find things you can do together, like making meals a team effort or spending those Saturday and Sunday mornings going for a walk or bike riding or doing something else active that you both enjoy.

Good luck and keep posting. Let us know how it goes!

If someone I loved told me that they were eating more healthy and working out, I would do what I could to support and help them. Perhaps he'll even have a suggestion or two. Better yet, maybe he'll go to the gym with you...

Good luck, stay strong, be healthy.

Sounds like you have a good plan in place to stick with your new routine and hopefully you will get nothing but support from your bf.

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
