Bumping this up to say that Delta Goodrem and Missy Higgins have some great-but-not-totally-mainstream music available. "In This Life" (Goodrem) and "Where I Stood" (Higgins) are the current singles (on Sirius, anyway), and are really, really great. Missy Higgins reminds me a lot of Sarah McLachlan; Delta Goodrem is a little more "pop," but still really good to listen to. Definitely the kind of things you hear on adult contemporary stations. I've really enjoyed both albums from iTunes. (Also, my TV boyfriend who won American Idol released "Light On," and it's lovely. If you like Nickleback, Daughtry, 3 Doors Down-sounding things...you might like "Light On," too.)

My latest fave is "Walk Through Me" by Adrienne Pierce. I discovered the song on a friend's petcentric website that allows you to have your own personal page and has a program that allows you to put music on your page.

Where most people do a montage of photos of their pet on their personal page, since I didn't have a pet and my "pet project" at that time was decorating my new home, I did a photo montage of my home. I luckily stumbled upon Pierce's song which starts with the lyric "This is my house...come on in." and I thought it perfect for my montage.

I came to love the song so much from visiting my page (it plays automatically when anyone visits my page, including me) that I downloaded it from iTunes along with another of her songs that I'd never heard. I'm loving both!

Sandra's website is free but requires registration, so I'm not sure if it will let you see my page as a non-member or not, but if you want to check it out, here it is:

Did anyone else download Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love and, if so, are you having a problem with a really crappy bassline?

Use the support or tech e-mail (I think you can get it through itunes.com) and tell 'em. Chances are pretty good they'll fix it for you--either by letting you download it again, replacing it for you, or refunding your big ol' .99.

Edited to add: Distribution companies decide on how to market the stuff on iTunes, so...blame them for being cheap about the SATC soundtrack. OH! And e-mail iTunes and say you want to pick the songs, not d/l the whole soundtrack. If they know enough people aren't spending money, they'll negotiate a change.

I am SO BUMMED that the iTunes store isn't allowing purchase of individual songs on the Sex and the City Movie soundtrack--only the whole album, and the whole album is not worth the money IMHO.

I saved up some Amazon Rewards and threw in some of my own cash to finally get myself an iPod. I could not see spending the money for the full deal, so I got the 4 GB Nano. It's very cute and I'm still trying to figure it all out, but I at least have my first playlist created for walking and I've had one walk with it and loved it.

I was finally driven to get one because the radio reception in my new town SUCKS just in general and then when you get around any big buildings (like hotels when I walk on the boardwalk), it degrades much further.

Now, I'm static free!

Note: Did anyone else download Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love and, if so, are you having a problem with a really crappy bassline? Since it was the first song I bought from the iTunes store, I thought it was my iPod, but then every other song I either bought or copied from CD sounded beautiful--it's just that song. I LOVE the song but the bassline is so awful (super cheap speakers bad) that I hate to listen to it already. Frustrating.

Hello (originally Lionel Richie), Eleanor Rigby (Beatles), Billie Jean (Michael Jackson), and Little Sparrow (Dolly Parton), as covered by David Cook on American Idol. I might think that he's got a classic rock voice, with a haunting vulnerability on studio recordings. He might have the kind of voice that generates a spontaneous crush response in me. I blame being in college during the grunge years for that.

Also, Let it Be (Beatles) as covered by Brooke White, also on American Idol.

Gunpowder & Lead, Miranda Lambert. It's country, and not really a good message, but has some great kick-a attitude.

Dance Dance, Fall Out Boy, from 2005.

(Especially for Brie...)

Break Anotha, Blake Lewis

If you like Justin Timberlake & boy band stuff, Blake's album as a whole would probably be pretty appealing. (Okay, yes, I do like boy band fluffy pop stuff.)

My dd received a new iPod from her dad for Christmas so I will be inheriting her old one. I have never had an iPod but I'm excited about it and will be going through this post for some music suggestions.

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

Speaking of music downloads, here is a tidbit from today's Reuters news wires:

"NEW YORK - Online retailer Amazon.com has signed on Warner Music Group to its music download service, which aims to compete with Apple's industry-dominating iTunes online store.

Warner Music songs are available on the Amazon MP3 service, which lets users purchase the tunes and download them to many digital music players, including Apple's iPod, the companies said on Thursday. They will also offer exclusive tracks and special album bundles.

Amazon launched the service in September after reaching deals with music labels Universal Music Group, part of Vivendi, and EMI.

It has priced many of its songs at 89 cents each, below the standard iTunes price of 99 cents.

Unlike Apple's store, Amazon's shop sells all of its songs without protection, allowing them to be played on a variety of devices, including Apple's popular iPod digital entertainment players."
