Change your workout today! If you usually do the elipitcal trainer, jump on the stairmaster instead. If you walk, try adding arm movements. Changing your routine keeps things fun, interesting and can help break through plateaus!

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.

Partly out of necessity, due to my injured arm, I focussed a lot more lower body stuff. I usually just do abductors, but I did hams and quads too.

I also stepped up the stairmaster to level 5 instead of the usual level 4, and changed the program from a single hill to several hills.

I split my workout. Instead of 30 mins on the treadmill, I did 20 on treadmill and 10 on elliptical. Those ellipticals are a killer!! But I feel like I got more out of the workout.

Today, rather than doing my usual 2.11 miles on a treadmill, I did a brisk 5.36 mile walk in a local park.

Just working out two days in a row is a change for me, since I've been lazy all winter.

Lucky for me Wednesday is already that kind of day for me! I do Yoga! I am feeling SO good inside and out!

Today I'll either "change" my workout by letting it be my only day off this week (which rotates week by week), or I'll "change" it by riding my recumbent bike (since my schedule isn't usually conducive to working out on today).

It's almost hard for me to vary my workout, since I already have varying workout "rules" in place: I don't use any of my DVDs more than once per week and I can't do any two of the same type (ie two Firm or WATP) in any one week.

Here's hoping all enjoy the change in workout for today.

I'm going to try a new pilates tape today. I'm still going to take a short stroll though. I love to be outside, but it has really gotten so hot & humid here these days (and I think I've gotten in some poison ivy, had a really bad case of it last summer.)
KD, enjoy your stroll around NY (actually window shopping is my favorite way to burn calories!)
SheriaVA, I hope that you feel better soon. I was also glad see your postings about the wonderful time you had on your trip.

kd,

Just saw that you were in NYC and had to check your schedule. The show you're taping sounds great -- don't forget to tell us when to watch for it.

Have fun in NY -- I haven't made it there yet, but I am becoming more and more a fan of big cities.

For me it was a change just to get back to exercising again after being sick. I met a friend and we ran half an hour this morning. It felt really good!

I have not felt well since returning from vacation late Sunday night, so I have not exercised Monday, Tuesday or today. As a result, I'll need to postpone this homework until I am back in fighting (or would that be exercising?) form.

Personal Healthy Habits Challenge - 10/1 to 12/31/08:
1. Exercise: Get back to consistently working out 3-5 X week.
2. Food: Get back to consistently preparing healthy lunches for the week with increased veg servings.
3. Behavior: Reduce intake of sweets.

I'm going to walk, walk, walk the streets of NY today instead of my usual delicious bike ride. Hope the boutiques aren't a distraction Smiler
