I've lived my dream.....

I just had to share what happened at church yesterday. In November a very famous Christian rock band (Petra) did a concert at our church as part of their "Farewell Tour". Well, as part of the concert, they had a handmade guitar that they were giving away. The entry that won it happened to be our pastor. So, yesterday Pastor Steve "played" this beautifully handmade instrument (I say "played" because he's not very good, actually he's not good at all Smiler). Anyhow, he talked about how he has been daydreaming about the lead guitarist of Petra retiring to our town and offering to teach him how to play the instrument that he had made....then Pastor Steve was talking about the golfers imagining being taught to golf by Tiger Woods, the tennis players being taught by Andre Agasse, and the homemakers being taught by Martha Stewart.....I turned to my dh and said "I've already lived that dream!" Last March when Kathleen was in San Francisco, I got to cook with her! Smiler She is the "famous chef" that I would most like to spend time with, and I get that, not only by getting to make chocolate mousse with her in SF, but also every day here on the forum, through her books, etc.

How cool is that? Smiler

Blessings,

Lori

I have had the pleasure of meeting KD 3 times. Because we had "talked" on the old FN fan board she did not treat me like it was a first meeting between strangers. I was at a book signing and gave them "BrenauMom" as the name for her to use in the book. She recognized it and started saying "oh, oh!" and got up and came around the table and gave me a big hug and told everybody around us that we had been talking on the internet for a long time. It kind of surprised me at the time since she was a "celebrity" but I have since learned that she doesn't act like a "celebrity". Smiler Every time I have seen her since then she recognizes me and even if she is busy with someone else across the room she will wave and then get to me when she can. I no longer feel like I am going to see a "celebrity chef", just an old friend I don't get to see very much. I haven't yet actually cooked with her but I licked the bowl when she made chocolate mousse at Lenox Square last year Big Grin

Me too! (I was in SF with Lori and M&M and SusanRows and met KD)

One time I was watching the Today Show and the were doing a "Make your Dreams Come True Month" segment. One woman wanted to cook with a TV chef and Today sent Giada (sp?) to her house and I thought, "It would be fun to open the door and see Giada. She's cute and perky and it looks like she is a good chef, but I'd feel sort of like, oh man, they sent the wrong chef... I'd much rather meet KD..."

KD is cute, and has a LOT of energy (but not the perky annoying kind Eeker) and is an awesome chef...!

Lori,
You are so fortunate-I would love to at least meet her in person, but to cook with her...priceless!!

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.

That's very cool Lori! : )

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
