I can't remember if this was a homework or not, I kind of remember something about movies and I don't mean it to be a homework but I'm wondering what movies you've all seen lately and what movies are you looking forward to coming out?
I for one am really excited about the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean and also Spiderman 3. I also want to see Premonition, Disturbia, and Blades of Glory (I am a huge Will Ferrell fan and also a Jon Heder-Napoleon Dynamite-fan). For those of you who have not heard of this movie it is about 2 male figure skaters who are banned from male singles skating for life so they team up as a pairs figure skating couple. It looks hilarious.
Has anyone seen Borat? I want to see it but know no one who has seen it.

I've learned to tap my library's web site to reserve movies as soon as I can after they come out on DVD. DH doesn't have to worry about hearing the movie in the theater. We can always put the closed captioning on.
Recently I've seen and recommend these:
The Departed The Interpreter The Prestige The Illusionist World Trade Center
I am looking forward to The King of Scotland and The Queen in the next few weeks.
Just a little update -- I took DS to see TMNT this weekend. After about 50 minutes, he looked at me and said "The one I have at home is better. I don't want to watch this any more." So we left.
(The "one at home" is a DVD compilation of six of the cartoon series episodes. His aunt gave it to him for Christmas, and he's allowed to watch only one episode at a time.)

One of my good friends took her 5 or 6 y.o. daughter to see it yesterday and said that her daughther liked it, but a lot of it was over her head. She said that my DS is probably about the perfect age for it. He's 8 1/2.
My friend really enjoyed it.

I got to see a grown-up movie this weekend, for the first time in a long time. DH and I saw The Namesake, and we both enjoyed it. Me probably more than him since I read the book and it was definitely a chick flick. But being the child of immigrants himself, he appreciated the story line, and he said the cinematography (sp?) was really beautiful. It does seem to run kind of long, but I would recommend it.
I went to see Premonition and I generally don't like that kind of film but I love Sandra Bullock. It was very good but I found myself trying so hard to unlock the mystery that I was distracted. But I'll still see anything she's in.
Susan: the sharks were one of my favorite parts of Nemo! But my kids weren't little at the time. We had a similar experience at Lion King 2. When my daughter (it was her birthday and we had 8 other kids along) said, "Mum, did Mufasa die?" I said,"No of course not! I'm sure he didn't!" and I was WRONG - yikes! But no bad dreams followed. One of my girls is still scared of the Ursula (from the Little Mermaid)!

Anyone seen Reign on Me with Adam Sandler, yet? I believe it opened this weekend. I am not an Adam Sandler fan, but this one seems like a winner to me. Just wondered it if were a "date night" flick?

We have been having weekly movie night and we have a great library- free dvds. Kids are for 3 weeks and you can renew...here are some we have watched:
Balto Snow Dogs- w/ Cuba Gooding jr. the OLD Shaggy Dog (still freaky--it's the brother that changes though- not the dad.) Apple Dumplin' gang Spy Kids 2..(lame but Andrew was transfixed.) Herbie the love bug- old one.. Herbie Fully Loaded... the new one

I have the same issue with my dd (age 6). She loved Nemo but freaked out at Shaggy D.A. She HATED that the kids didn't recognize their dad when he was the dog. She also had trouble with the Lion King and more recently Narnia.
Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.

The sharks in Finding Nemo freaked him out so much he hid the DVD box, but he didn't bat an eye during the battle scene in Narnia. And he thought The Incredibles was boring.
Based on what you've told me and other reviews, Last Mimzy is a maybe and we'll wait with the others.
I do have a date with DH tonight and I really want to see The Namesake. It was a good book, and the reviews say it lives up to the story.
Susan, DS was really scared of Finding Nemo too, but not the sharks. I think it made him really scared to think about being lost.

- The Astronaut Farmer - The Bridge to Terabithia (review says something very upsetting happens near the end) - The Last Mimzy (this one opens today)
Of course, the new Ninja Turtles movie also opens today and I know DS will want to see that. Whose idea was it to bring them back, anyway?
Susan,
A couple of review sites that I always check out before taking our kids to see any movie!
pluggedinonline.com kids-in-mind.com or .org
Susan, My mom took DS to see "Bridge to Terabithia" and she cried her eyes out and DS said he didn't really think it was. If you'd like to know what the sad thing is, I can tell you, but won't unless you tell me to. I don't want to be a spoiler.
