LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Curious about how many calories are packed into that burrito or fried chicken you crave? Fast-food company Yum Brands Inc. says it's taking the guesswork out of counting calories.
The parent of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Long John Silver's and A&W All-American Food said Wednesday it will add product calorie information to menu boards in its company-owned restaurants nationwide.
"The state of California became the first in the nation to require calorie counts on menu boards for restaurants with more than 20 locations in the state. That means more than 17,000 restaurants statewide will have to post the information by 2011, thanks to a law signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday. The rule also requires that restaurants and drive throughs provide calorie counts and fat, carbohydrate and sodium tallies on printed menus that must be made available starting next July. Restaurants that violate the code can be fined $50 to $500"
Driving is like coloring. You gotta stay between the lines!
