Well, yesterday one of my teenage dreams came true!
Yesterday I took my boys to a luncheon hosted by my beloved Yankees! That was exciting enough for all of us. They got lots of autographs and that cute hunky Jason Giambi picked up my little guy and took a picture with him.
I spoke to Joe Torre. Yogi Berra and Reggie Jackson were there too. Very, very exciting!!
The real excitement came though, when I locked eyes with Lee Mazzilli!!
As a 15 year old girl, my friends and I would take the subway to Shea Stadium (then he played for the Mets). We would stand behind the dug out and just yell and yell his name.
Here I am 25 years later and my whole body was covered in goose bumps. Oh is he ever adorable!!
I laid in bed all night last night thinking that I just can not believe it!!! So exciting!!

I had a very different list of expectations for my men when I was younger than my 17 year old daughter does today.
Um, calling all homework captains! This would be SUCH a hoot to discuss with everyone here. I actually had an index card with the qualities I was praying for - I kid you not. I was very particular to God about the entire thing. I'll save that story for homework, if someone wants to use it. I love your list, Mary Jo. Now, Italian, that would have been a good place to start, why didn't I think of that... If I had, I wouldn't have such gorgeous blond teenager daughters giving me gray hairs, here.

P.S. What is a record store? Just kidding!
How true Lynne!!!! The record store is a dinostore now!!!!
The funny thing about me is that I must just have some kind of familiar face. I am stopped every day at least once and someone will ask me where we know eachother from.
Fortunately for me, if a famous person is around, they ask me too. People just feel comfortable around me for some reason.
Brett was cute, much older than me. He was in his 30's I think and I was just 20. I wouldn't have dated him anyway, he wasn't from NY and back then that was one of my priorities.
I had a very different list of expectations for my men when I was younger than my 17 year old daughter does today. And I would like to thank God for that one.
Her list includes things like goals, college, high gpa, integrity.
Mine was Italian, from NY, dark hair and loved to eat out!!!

Speaking of the Twins, it reminded me that Kirby Puckett (who just passed away a few days ago) used to play for our local A baseball farm club....well, when he did, my fil and mil got to know him, and he used to babysit my dh and his siblings occcasionally
Blessings,

My husband gets to attend all of these things because of his job. He has been out of town all week, so I took the boys since he couldn't bring anyone.
Funny story: When I was about 20, I worked in a record store. So this guy comes to my counter and is flirting with me. He was sure I knew who he was. He was bouncing a tennis ball on the counter and talking. He says, don't you know who I am???
I said, "do you play tennis or something??"
He shook his head, annoyed and said "no, baseball"
He was Brett Saberhagen from the Twins. I thought that was so funny!!!

Well, my dear, it's a good thing I liked you before I found out you were a Yankee fan... Speaking as a member of Red Sox Nation...
That must have been just thrilling! How did you ever get to be in that situation? Was it a benefit of some kind! I'm jealous! Well, except for the Yankee part, I would love to meet some real baseball players of a different persuasion
Take care of Johnny for us!
Lynne
