Remember the study "Are Your Friends making you Fat?"

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=12237644

The principal at my school lost a bunch of weight… Like maybe 100 lbs? Yesterday, my band class did assemblies for the whole school… so I saw teachers that I haven’t seen in 6 months or so… and a BUNCH of teachers have lost a BUNCH of weight. It was such a COOOOL thing to see!

One of the teachers said that there is a “Pedometer Club” at school. Who knew?!?!?! But it is very cool and I’m very pleased. The teachers lounge is still a caloric disaster… but I guess some people are walking it off or are figuring out how to eat it in moderation.

But I couldn’t help but think of the “Fat runs and families… AND in friendships, too” and maybe thin runs in friendships, also. I think that maybe some of the people who have lost the most are closest to the principal.

That is way cool Denise!

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.

you are such a great scientist denise!

i was just reading about this happiness project. it was a several week workshop where people came and learned how to meditate, clear their mind, cultivate serenity and other things. most of the people who attended were your type A personality corporate bigshots. the workshop facilitator said that the participants were able to get practice their new skills on a long term basis once they saw that others just like them (uptight business wearing overachievers) were sitting on cushions saying "OM" and realizing good results. these folks maintained their meditation practices even after returning to their rat race--cool!

social support is so important!

Goals:
1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire.
2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy.
3. One word 2008: courage
4. Eat slow and mindfully.
