Hi all! Let's hear all about it. I encourage you to share today especially if you are struggling. If all we ever report is the good news, it gives folks struggling the illusion that they are the only ones in that place. Help yourself and others by letting us know what's up!

It's not too late! Start your 79 day challenge today!

Motivational thought of the day:
A man of character finds a special attractiveness in difficulty, since it is only by coming to grips with difficulty that he can realize his potentialities.-Charles De Gaulle

Hi All,

Feeling like the tortoise in my HealthyLife Style "slow and steady will win the race to a better ME". So like my other posts many thanks for the motivation and yes I'm still here. Still haven't had any Late Night Munching attacks still fighting whatever cold I have in my system. Did manage to get on my exercise bike for an hour last night so feel good about getting back in gear on the challenge.

The beginning of the day went well, but then the cravings started, so I decided to just plan around them. I had a huge veggie plate for lunch, no dressing, so that on the way home from work I could stop and pick up a ham and feta calzone and some hot wings. I figured on eating 3 wings and 1/3 of the calzone. add a walk tomorrow. Well I ate 1/2 of one wing.. oops why did I order the xxxhot?.. so I ate closer to 1/2 the calzone. It was worth it though.

Last night, we took DS to see "March of the Penguins" (wonderful flick for the whole family, BTW) but we had to eat on the run before-hand and got home late. So I had a veggie taco for dinner -- sounded good but was heavy on the sour cream and guacamole. I was so hungry when we got home after 8 that I had some yogurt and raisins. And I hadn't even packed my lunch at work. On the plus side, I didn't reach into the popcorn bag during the movie even once, a first for me.

No swimming today, large luncheon pool side. I am not ready for runway swimming, so I'll skip it today and walk instead. Don't like that as much, and it is far more painful...so I have to do it in increments.

Journaling is going well. I have kept track of feelings which is usually what get me in trouble. I've noted that I am resistant to loosing weight, seems like a punishment to me right now. But I know that attitude will change with the changes success brings. My dh is doing well, and that irritates me and makes me happy all in one. I want it to be me, but it's him, and he will be a healthier man for me and for himself. Why, God, when we have to go through the pain of childbirth, can men loose weight faster, can't they have something hard in their lives?

WI is monday, and WW is Tuesday. Still dreading both...but I will be there.

Cathy

Just got back from the gym. Stayed up later than I should have last night, so I got up this morning just in time to pack my gym bag, have breakfast, and fly out the door. I'm accustomed to being at the gym doing upper body weights for 30 minutes before my step aerobics class. Because I got there just in time today, I had no time to warm up (beyond what the instructor provides). Boy could I tell a difference! Plus something wasn't right with the AC today...it was relatively cool but very humid...so that made my endurance even worse. Still, I made it through the class and then stayed a half hour after to do upper body weights.

Came home (like a good girl) for lunch and then I'm going to go out and do grocery shopping and get a pedicure in a bit.

2. Food: Get back to consistently preparing healthy lunches for the week with increased veg servings.
3. Behavior: Reduce intake of sweets.

I got up and did my walk and core work this morning. 60 minutes. Not an easy day though...not a good night's sleep. Thank goodness I had the safety net of my walking buddy that caught me otherwise I would still be snoozing. I've hit my 400 minute mark for the week so I'm glad about that. Still need to do my core work at least tomorrow so I get 3 days in. Sure wish I'd managed to do it at least once while I was in Portland. Oh, well. Smiler

Sandy and Bill-it's my pleasure and I'm not helping anyone more than I'm helping myself! Wink

Peg,

Just wanted to post another note of thanks for keeping this challenge going. This has been wonderful for me in that I finally feel that I'm back "on the wagon" with my seatbelt secured and my tray table in its upright and locked position. I've spent the last three months in a pity party over falling off back in April. What a waste of time!

I also wanted to comment because of the thread that Patty started. This is not easy. Every day, every hour, sometimes more frequently, I find myself "talking myself off the ledge." If the mental energy that I burn over this were as effective as physical exercise, I'd bet that I would be able to spend my life in an easy chair eating bon-bons and never exercising. (BTW, tried that. Don't recommend it.)

So, Patty, I did not meet my goal yesterday. I decided to take a day off from exercise. Today, however, is a new beginning (just like every morning is); and I plan to take advantage of it. I'm waiting for DW to wake, and then we're off to exercise.

Blood sugar goals: Last night blew my socks off! We had an especially large meal (I grilled a mess of veggies), but my number was lower than ever. Of course, this means that the starches really do make my numbers higher. (Nuts! I love starches. Oh, well.) This morning's number was also a little lower than normal. I know this could just be a fluke, but maybe not.

As stated in an early post this week, since my control seems to be getting better, it's time to change my goals by moving to two-hour post evening meal testing.

Well, time to start my day. Enjoy, everyone!

Bill
