The first thing I heard when my clock radio came on this morning is yet another radio show touting a "miracle" diet product ("Lose n' Snooze"). I heard a woman calling in to happily report that she has lost 12 pounds in 17 days and has gone from a size 22 to a size 12/14. At first, I thought I must surely have heard wrong or was still half asleep, but the host repeated it two or three more times after she hung up, touting the fabulousness of the product.

This made me want to throw something. Even putting aside the speed of the weight loss, which is unhealthy by the advice of most medical experts, is it even POSSIBLE to go from a size 22 to a size 12/14 with a loss of only 12 pounds? I can't even imagine it is, because that size range isn't far off from mine--I went from a size 20 to a size 14/16 but it took ME a loss of THIRTY pounds to do that.

These shows make me crazy. Can that woman's claim possibly be true? Has anyone experienced a size loss that substantial with a weight loss that small?

Smiler I always think she looks like she has been sick with her rib bones sticking out like they do.

Have you seen the Chicken of the Sea commercial? The one where she lets go of her stomach after the elevator doors close.

Well Sheri, since you have brought this up.......

I would like to announce that I want to take up a collection for the gal on the "Nutri-System" commercials. That poor, poor women has NO CLOTHES to wear!!!!!!!!!! First they show her in a bikini shopping for groceries and now she is show walking down the isle of her wedding in a 2 piece. Don't get me wrong, but these places ain't the beach!!!!!!!!

I feel SOOOOO sorry for her to have to been seen without clothing!! I subscribe to "The Family HandyMan" magazine (hey, it really IS handy, they just need to change the name of the mag to a more politically correct title Big Grin) I saw the ad for Nutri-System in there, with this same lady only they had to "Paint" jean shorts and a tool belt onto her picture........

POOOOOOOORRRRRRRR Woman............. Razzer

Clothing Drive anyone?!?!?!?!? Big Grin

hmmmm....maybe the size 14 outfit was made of spandex. Wink Of course, they are trying to sell something...and I'm guessing her results are atypical. Unfortunately, folks will fall for that hook, line and sinker. It's disgusting and sad. I guess some people prefer to try to be the hare..... thinking it's faster, quicker and they will be happier...blah, blah, blah.

Personally, give me the tortoise any day.

FWIW, I do believe it's possible for someone to go from a size 22 to a 12/14 with a loss of "only" twelve pounds.
When I first started losing weight I had to lose a LOT to go from one size to another. But I'm really short; I can see how a taller person could see a difference much more quickly. As I got into the smaller sizes, I noticed that just a few pounds make all the difference in how clothes fit. A surprise and a disappointment, I might add.
Women's clothing manufacturers today are SO inconsistent. Someone could go from wearing a well-tailored 22 to a size 14 (that's probably really a size 16) without too much difficulty.

Don't you wish we could get some KD commercials on the radio and TV? So people get the real deal, not the "how fast can I lose 50 lbs" thing. These commmercials are tempting at first, I'm sure we all have thought about writing down the toll free number but we know better. I think of all the people out there who buy this stuff, so sad that they are not learning how to truly be healthy. Put KD on a TV commmercial, or on the radio!!

No way Sheri! I did lose two dress sizes towards the very end without too much of a change in the scale but I also was adding a bunch of muscle too.

I HATE those magic claim kind of things. Beyong being totally unhealthy, it sets people up for disappointment if they don't lose weight at these ultra fast speeds.

I have a client now who was beating herself up that she "only" lost 10 pounds this past month. No matter how much reassurance we give her that this is TERRIFIC and HEALTHY, she wants to lose more and faster. : (
