Not a new food but I found out about a website:
www.mambosprouts.com
where you can print out coupons for many organic and healthy products.

Found out about it today at the market.

I just saw that mentioned in my latest Nutrition Action newsletter thing. I was excited too. Have to look next time and see if they are carrying them here yet!

Oh! I forgot to include the new product that I was excited about finding in my grocery store on Saturday...Boboli now makes whole wheat crusts! (They may have made them for ages but I just saw them for the first time in my store.)

They are a thin whole wheat crust without the cheesy stuff they put on the white crusts. Unfortunately, they're either not making the whole wheat in the single serving crust size or my store isn't carrying it...so it's just in the full size. But I bought a full size, cut it in quarters, baked off a quarter (2 slices) with fresh roma tomatoes, peppers and turkey pepperoni and put the other 3/4 of the crust in the freezer. That will be nice for a quick dinner or lunch!

My nutritionist gave me something called TrueLemon last week. It is crystalized lemon juice and you can add it to your water. It is very tasty and easier than a lemon wedge if you are at work all day. She gave me 4 or 5 packets but I used them all up and have yet to find them locally. They have a website www.truelemon.com.

I forgot, (can't beleive it, but oh well) I found a decent rice bread. Its rice with flax, and its not oversweetened or crumbly. I've been able to have the occasional toasted cheese sandwich now! Its a miracle! Praise the Lord!

For those who want the alleged health benefits of green tea, but don't like the taste, green/black tea mixes are available.

Edy's Light Mocha Almond Fudge Ice Cream is fabulous. The peppermint is o.k. Texture is a little bit off and it melts faster than their normal light ice creams.

Snyders of Hanover makes a good Oat Bran Pretzel. Slightly more fiber than the average pretzel. It's been a good substitue for me since I don't like whole wheat products very much. They always tend to taste too sweet to me. Snyder's also makes a Pumpernickle and Onion pretzel that is very tasty.

Brummel and Brown Margarine made with yogurt is quite good. I grew up using Fleishmans Corn Oil Margarine. I switched to their Olive Oil Margarine which isn't too bad, but it is definitely better on savory items. So I tried the Brummel and Brown. It has significantly less calories and is fairly tasty. It's no butter, but when I need a product that spreads it works.

Here's a stupid one: Cherries! Yes, I've had cherries before, but WOW they're back in season and I forgot how totally awesome they are. May even spring for a cherry pitter just so I can get them into my yogurt faster Smiler Gotta love the in season produce. I also go nuts over fresh peas. Here's what I do with them:

Dilled Pea Salad

1 T lowfat mayo
1 T nonfat sourcream
1 tsp dijon mustard
salt and pepper
2 tsp lemon juice
about 2 cups fresh shelled peas, cooked

Whisk dressing first, and add to veggies just before serving, or the flavors fade. This is great cold or room temp, with salmon. For more color add cooked carrots, or/and raw chopped yellow peppers. YUM!

Denise,

the label of the spice mix can say no-fat because of the percentage of fat there is per serving. Check what the serving size is. You are probably ok, but just something to be aware of.

mmmm Penzeys.(and a clue as to where Cajetaguy lives too...hmmmmm Wink )I'm going to have to hit Penzeys after I move, yum! Smiler

I tried Trader Joe's mole rojo sauce the other day...not bad, but spicy enough to light a fire in the belly!

Ronzini now makes a whole wheat blend egg noodle with 3 g fiber per ounce. We had basically given up egg noodles because I could not find a good ww version. We prefer these to the "regular" ones.

Oh, yum...I love egg noodles so I'll have to be on the lookout for those!

I looked at the Haagen Daaz yesterday as a consideration for dessert today but went with the cutest little cheesecake that was delicious and it's all gone! Smiler

...McCormick Grill Mates...

I see they also have Chipotle Pepper.

http://www.mccormick.com/productdetail.cfm?id=6473

Among other things, ground chipotle is very good in black bean dishes, corn dishes, and works on steak.

(I use Penzey's chipotle, because they happen to have a store in town.)

I bought the McCormick Grill Mates Salt Free Chicken seasoning a couple of weeks ago but don't think I've had an opportunity to use it yet. Glad to hear that the steak one is good!

The only other new thing I can think of I've already mentioned elsewhere--the Haagen Daz Lite ice cream in Dutch Chocolate flavor. I might try another flavor next time I buy a pint...but when the first flavor I try of something is so good, I always have a hard time moving on to try others. Smiler
