I don't know why I haven't tried them before, but Sunsweet Premium Mediterranean (dried) Apricots sure taste good (!); and include lots of nutritional goodies, such as potassium and soluble fiber.

FYI: I got invited to an ice cream social yesterday held by another office in my agency to celebrate publication of a 200-page regulation that I edited. They had all Breyer's ice cream products and the only reduced fat/calorie one was Breyer's Light Vanilla, so that's the one I had--it was not nearly as good as the Haagen Dazs Light. OTOH, Denise mentioned that the Vanilla of the Haagen Dazs Light was her least favorite of that line so maybe other flavors of the Breyer's Light would be more impressive. It definitely had an aftertaste of some sort, even with raspberries, choc. syrup and mini choc. chips on it.

where you live can you guys get Delissio pizza?

I just bought a new one...Delissio Balance. Its got a Harvest Wheat rising crust....and I got the grilled chicken and spinach version(also has red peppers)..they had a couple of others as well(deluxe and roasted vegetable with feta).

The Delissios are medium sized pizzas...for 1/2 a pizza there are 330 cals (dinner sized), 8 g of fat, 47 carbs and 19g protein and 3g of fibre. I just looked at the ingredients...no white flour at all!! Yay!
I get discouraged sometimes buying WW bread when sometimes it has white flour in it..sheesh!! So, it's nice to see it doesn't have any in it!

FYI...as for pizza...what I used to use is whole wheat pita shells..they are individual sized..so you never worry about overeating. Hmmm think I'll go buy some later..haven't had that in a while. Pita with veggie pep, sauce, pineapple and a sprinkle o

I'm having it for dinner, I'll let you know how the first half of it was!

Sheri, I just read the rest of your post....the plucot has the taste and texture of the plum with the sweetness of the apricot. The aprium has the texture and coloring of an apricot, and the firm (not mealy like some apricots can get) texture of the plum. So yes, the skin on your pluot is not sour because of the crossing with the apricot. And the firmness of the aprium is from the plum Smiler

I haven't eaten plums in ages because I always remember loving the flesh but hating the skin (sour). Now that I've had the plucot, I want to go back and try a regular plum to see if there's as much difference as there seemed to be from my eating the plucot. The flesh of the plucot was VERY sweet...delectably so...but the peel was not sour at all. So I wonder if that's where the cross breeding of the apricot comes in...not that it is supposed to TASTE like an apricot but that they've used the apricot to tone down the sourness of the plum's skin? I dunno...just thinkin' out loud here. Smiler

Maybe some of you from the agricultural areas (or more knowledge of plucots) can clear this up!

The Plucot (or pluot) is 75% plum and 25% apricot....the aprium is 75% apricot and 25% plum Smiler I LOVE both! The apriums are new in stores this year.

My other favorite hybrid fruit is the donut peaches....those are SOOOOO good!!!

I'm not happy with my Giant. I have been craving pizza and went back to the Giant TWICE this weekend to get whole wheat Boboli crust. None. Frowner I even talked to a manager and he called another store. None. Frowner So he said he'd talk to the supplier. I told him that a lot of people are into eating healthier now and that I raved to my friends about the ww Boboli so he said he'd try to get some in.

Bummah.

BTW, a few years ago I had a sample of chocolate OatsCream soft serve, and it tasted better than it sounds. At first lick, there was a bit of an oaty aftertaste, but after that it tasted like regular soft serve, and had a texture as good as regular soft serve. According to their web site, the ingredients are "Water, Oat Flour, Dutched Cocoa, Natural Flavors,* and Vitamin E (Tocopherol)".

I didn't think that it was overly sweet. I was a LOT like rocky road... so you probably wouldn't like it, but, it didn't have that much graham cracker in it.

I bought it on a whim (since it was a holiday and all) and probably won't buy it again.

How's that for a recommendation? Smiler

While I didn't make a conscious decision NOT to try the S'mores flavor, subconsciously I was likely thinking "Probably going to be too sweet." every time I saw it in the store. I find that things with marshmallow (or trying to taste like marshmallow) can go over the edge real fast on being too gooey sweet.

At this point, I'm more about the quality of the calories/flavor than about just having something sweet so I'm not sure I would like it. Though I do love the graham cracker idea. Did the S'mores seem overly sweet to you? If I don't like Rocky Road (never have), do you think I probably wouldn't like S'mores?

OK Sheri, I tried the Haagen Dazs 50% lite "S'mores" flavor. It was like rocky road and somebody accidently dumped graham craker pieces instead of nuts into the batch. It was good. Same as the choc... good mouth feel and all... but not what I was expecting... but it was good...

Looks like there is a 50% mint chip coming out...

Me neither.

When I go skiing, these are the kinds I take. I feel a little better eating them instead of a Snickers bar on the chair lift.

I am not generally a person who uses protein bars, shakes, etc. and, in fact, have found most protein bars to not be my cup of tea. However, when I leave the gym on Saturday mornings after a really intense aerobics class, I need something to carry me over until I can get home to eat lunch (I usually do errands or shopping on the way home).

A few weeks ago, while at Whole Foods, I decided to buy two new (to me) flavors of the Kashi Go Lean protein bars. I've since bought a third flavor. I've tried 2 of the 3 flavors and they are both outstanding. One is what I call "malted milk ball" but I think the actual name of the flavor is "malted milk chocolate." The other is I believe called "chocolate toffee."

Now, one of the first protein bars I ever tried was a Kashi Go Lean brand...it was a peanut butter/chocolate flavor. The flavor was good on first bite but, after a few bites, the combo of flavor and texture would get to me. I bought a bunch at BJ's Wholesale Club some years ago and they ended up going to waste.

I don't know if Kashi has improved it's bars or if perhaps these flavors are just more my cup of tea, but the malted milk and toffee ones are good enough that I can get through the whole bar if need be (though I usually just eat half).

I bought some Mochi green tea ice cream from TJ's. We didn't care for it. It comes in little balls that are sort of coated in a thin, stretchy potsticker skin kind of thing.

I was bummed because a serving had just 6 g. of fat and the other TJ's green tea ice cream had about 21 g. of fat. Frowner

I did see some pre-cooked brown rice at TJ's that looked interesting... It was already cooked and vacuumed packaged and on the shelf with the dry rice. It looked like a good item - either for people that like convenient food that heats in 90 seconds... or it looked like it might be a good earthquake/hurricane box kind of item...

I usually have brown rice in the freezer... So I didn’t buy any.

I know this has been around for a while, but it's new to me: Buffalo Chicken deli meat. I bought 1/2 lb. yesterday for me and dd. I ate some at lunch and really liked it! The nutritional facts were on the counter in the deli and 2 oz. is 70 calories and 2 grams of fat per serving.

Remember how I said the coffee taste seemed so strong to me the first day I opened the pint? Well, the interesting thing is that I didn't "get" that strongness at all from any of the other servings in the pint. I don't know if that's cuz I got used to it or cuz, after the first serving, I remembered to add a sprinkle of sliced almonds along with the Hershey's syrup, so that made it taste SO much like Jamocha Almond Fudge ice cream. YUM!

I have a substantially higher opinion of the coffee flavor after the last serving than after the first. Funny how that happens! hehe
