there is a huge range of sizes. dd gets depressed because she has to big a larger size. but really, it is the manufacturer. a lot of teens go for those brand names that cater to rail-thin upper crust buyers. so to fit into one of those brands, you have to buy a larger size. it is all very warped and exaggerated, but it plays upon the emotions of the buyer.I KNOW!
Have you ever seen LEI brand jeans? I swear--all those buyers must be HUNGRY all the time because you cannot have hips to wear those jeans. i manage the JC Penney brand jeans because they actually allow women to have some hips.

Still can't wear all 12/14's, depends on the brand and how it is made
I recently bought a bunch of new summer clothes. The sizes I bought ranged anywhere from a 14 to an 18 (which I have never in my life bought an 18). The 18 was a pair of knee-length shorts that fit everywhere in a 16 except in the hips! Most sizes were 14's though but it's amazing how much fluctuation there is based on brand and cut of the garment.

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.
The weekend is filling up with fun stuff but not toooo much in the way of food challenges. I'm going to Indian for lunch today so that will be an indulgence. I'm hosting a bbq on Sat. but most everyone coming eats pretty healthy so I think that won't be too bad for a holiday meal. I'm struggling to come up with a complete menu for tomorrow night's picnic but I'll get it figured out. I have lots of outdoor and active activities planned so it should all be good.

Woooooo Hoooooo Judy!!!
And Happy Birthday Laura!!
Funny, I was just getting ready to type pretty much the exact same to both of them!

My challenge this weekend will be to keep my total fat calories under check, but still allow for some extras. Not sure how this will work... We'll be doing some menu planning today and tomorrow with friends. I might work in extra corn on the cob, angel food cake, fruit, stuff like that.

Our first of the long weekend parties was postponned because of forecasted bad weather. I'm frankly relieved because that would have been three dinner parties in a row and it was the largest gathering. That translates to me as having the biggest number of temptations. We're seeing the same group (more or less) on Saturday night for fireworks after my concert so we'll still get to socialize and see people.
Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
Too much food. And a freshly baked cake in my house. Thankfully I have a 5 mile race (err, slow but timed training run if my physical therapist is reading) that will hopefully keep me in check a little bit.
Plus dinner tomorrow night at one of my favorite restaurants, with a custard pie that is one of my favorite treats.
And maybe a dinner out over the weekend.
The hard part is indulging in deserved treats (Saturday is my birthday) without feeling guilty because I've stayed on plan for the last two weeks and I am almost afraid I'll go completely crazy with my birthday cake. I've been itching for a good, homemade cake for darn near a month and have kept putting it off due to lack of time to make it.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.

Going nuts trying to get everything done.
More later
As promised, here is an update .
We had a fairly good picnic this past weekend. Lots of people showed up (with their dogs) and the food was good. The heat was terrible even though we were under a roof and not out in the sun. I think I came very close to passing out from the heat due to my inability to sweat properly. I do sweat a little bit now but not as much as I should. I got very weak, my breathing was uneven and they tell me I was beet red. Drinking ice water in front of a fan that my sister had brought and putting cold paper towels on my neck was not helping much so I went and sat in the car with the motor on and the a/c running until I recovered enough to re-join the party. After that I didn't do much but just sit and talk. Dena did a very good job as hostess.
All the dogs seemed to get along quite well but due to the extreme heat we did not take them to the dog park.

ok, i want your guest! why aren't guests like that?
well, the gym is closing right now. we all thought we had until june 30th. but actually, the owners never even notified us that it was closing. the meployees (God bless them) have been looking out for us members. if not for them, we would have never known in the first place. so i was planing to go to the gym tomorrow morning, like i do every staurday. but then, i got a call from the front desk guy (who also feeds me his homemade zucchini bread) "Isabel, it has been confirmed that the doors are closing today at noon!" well, not too surprising but i have not made other arrangements yet for a saturday workout. so i am going to the new gym afterwork today to ask for a 1 week pass, and i will try out their Bodyattack class tomorrow morning. I plan to get up, do a light jog for 30 minutes, then train with my SO in martial arts for 30 minutes (all outdoors). if i have any energy left (because it is very very humid right now), i will aim for the Bodyattack class later on that morning. I dislike getting away from my rouine but oh well...
otherwise, i need to rest. i am taking monday off. i need a day off so bad--i am seriously burned out. i find myself getting short with people, which is so unlike me. not a good sign. monday morning, i am going to the lake to canoe . i hope it will be peaceful. i am packing my breakfast and going to eat outdoors with the minnows and water snakes. dd is going to the beach AGAIN with her dad, her birthday is tuesday. it will be refreshing to get a break from her as well.

Tonight: Dinner with a friend who is spending the night but she specifically asked to stay in (yeah!) and keep it healthy (another yeah!). I'm going to make Salmon, Risotto (indulgence but I bought some nice cheese last weekend so that will be a good treat) and spinach salad. Might make the brownies I have in the cupboard but will decide later. She's bringing champagne so that will be an indulgence too but I'm not a huge fan so that should keep it in check.
Saturday: Spending morning with my guest but again requested light breakfast so that's good. Going to then go help friends move so that will be some good exercise. I'm thinking I will take dinner there too but might just get take out. Have to see how this afternoon goes.
Sunday: Church and job search group at Panera. I think I'll stop and do a Volkswalk on my way home so that'll be a 6 mile walk. Then I have book club that night. Supposed to eat dinner before so I will have to figure out something light since I believe there will be treats there.
Full weekend....not much down time in there. Maybe I'll try to come home right after dinner Sat night instead of staying with them working on the move. We'll see how it's going.
