Has anyone used either of these books? I have used Saving Dinner for many menus and everything is pretty good. I like that I have a game plan for eating. I was curious about the Body Clutter book and when I went to the Saving Dinner website I was so discouraged to see the Body Clutter menu is low carb! Leann Ely and Flylady have apparantly lost a lot of weight doing this but I feel this is another plug for cutting out carbs. I checked out the menu mailer for Body Clutter, it is the same as their low-carb menu mailer. The meals look good but no more brown rice, sweet potatoes, ww pasta. I was really amped up about getting this new Body Clutter book, I know it is not all about weight loss but about helping us understand why we are where we are today and taking babysteps to change but if the recommendation is to follow this plan of low carb I can't see it being a life change, it is just another South Beach. Any thoughts? I think I will stick to the regular menus offered and adjust to make them lower in fat/calories wherever possible. I think I have decided for now that I am not ready to make the switch to no meat but the Saving Dinner menus have a fish night, meat free night, and only one night of red meat a week which I can substitute chick./turk. for that. I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.
I am a flybaby and was curious about Body Clutter. Although, I wasn't sure that I was ready to have someone tell me how or what to eat. I just don't do well with that.
I was thinking that I should maybe give it a try, and then saw a testimonial about it that referenced it as a "diet" and mentioned how great it is to weigh every day now like the book suggests and how easy it is to give up carbs. I don't think that this book is for me.
Those are the things that I avoid like the plague.
One thing you have to keep in mind about Body Clutter is that Leann is a nutritionist and helped Marla (Flylady) to get something workable for her because Marla is diabetic.
While it is great for menu ideas, you can still add your starchy foods in without a problem. I think much of Body Clutter's brilliance comes in how you might change your way of thinking about your importance and why being so unhealthy isn't good. Since women often eat because of emotional (often self-depricating) reasons, the changes in the "stinkin' thinkin" as Flylady puts it is where the real value of the book is.
Just my thoughts. Laura
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
I think that the whole Saving Dinner idea is a great one... since the planning is done for you. I've heard good things about her recipes. They seem healthy enough...
Don't know about the Body Clutter plan... I guess if it works for them... plus it is probably sort of marketing too. She's going to have more customers, the more plans she has...
Sounds like you found a plan that will work for you.
