I will still be around the rest of the day, but I have a lot to do tonight so I'm not sure if I will be back online after I leave work today, so I thought I'd post this now.

I'm headed to Ohio tomorrow morning to visit my family and attend the family reunion on Saturday. I plan to return on Monday or Tuesday (probably Monday).

I didn't pursue a gathering of the Ohio CT sisters this time because my older brother from Florida, who doesn't come for reunion that often, is coming this year as well as my younger brother and his children. As a result, I anticipate that there will be more family-related activities than usual. I didn't want to get attitude again for taking a day away from my short annual visit with the family to drive off to another part of the state and meet up with my online friends. Smiler

This will be the last family reunion I attend as a full-time worker. By next August, I will be retired so, in the future, I can hopefully add some extra days to my trip and visit with the Ohio area board members as well as my family.

Here are two pictures from my recent trip to Ohio for family reunion:

This is me at the family reunion with my nephews Jason and Justin and niece Amber. This pic is really special to me because I always tried to take pix of me with them when they were younger and the boys were always making goofy faces, so here they are all grown up and I finally get a great picture of all of us. Smiler

This is me outside the library in my home town. There is a story to this one:

When I was growing up, there was a train station on the spot where I am standing in this picture. My town had no library. The train station was just outside my bedroom window, hence this library would have been steps from my home.

This library was built as a result of the short-lived TV show "Three Wishes," which granted 3 wishes on each episode. Nicole Durant, a handicapped girl who lives in the area, wished for the town to have a library. So I got to see my hometown on TV -- pretty cool considering my hometown is TINY (2 traffic lights in the entire town).

The next part of the story is that my first grade teacher, Miss Dolly, reads story time for the children at the library every Saturday morning (see the sign in the picture). Now, considering that I am about to turn 55 years old, you can imagine how old Miss Dolly must be, but here she is still helping children. That is cool.

P.S. Miss Dolly was not only MY first grade teacher, but also taught both of my brothers in first grade. My older brother is turning 60 this fall, so it wasn't like she was just out of college when she taught me. Smiler

I'm hooooooooooooome!

I'm back from my family reunion weekend in Ohio. My entire immediate family was home at one time--both brothers and their wives + all of my baby brother's children + my Mom and I. My older bro & SIL stayed at Mom's house and provided a wonderful buffer between Mom & I. My SIL and I were talking the other night and she said she'd mentioned to my bro about staying in a motel but he wanted to stay at Mom's to help provide a buffer for me. God bless him! I just sent them both a thank you note to tell them that meant a lot to me.

I got to meet my oldest nephew's fiancee (they are getting married in October). My younger nephew has turned into a tall, wide-shouldered hunk! Wow, what a handsome young man. And my neice, who I still think of as a kid (she's 15) has turned into a real beauty.

I think Mom really enjoyed having her entire brood home for the reunion this year (tho my younger bro, SIL and kids all stayed at MIL's). We spent a lot of family time--a day out in Amish country, driving around to hour home town and all our schools, etc., in addition to the reunion itself.

There were the usual snide comments, of course, but no big scenes--not even any moderately big scenes--so it was a much lower-stress visit for me than usual.

All is well. Smiler Thanks for your good wishes!
Sheri
