I just wanted to thank everyone who gave advice and information. I am back on the road to better health. My weight gain was the disease, lack of sleep and meds. What I didn't eat as well as what I did and the high volume of fluid in-take. Since I was limited in what I can do to exercise I see results much slower. A girl friend gave me a tape of exercises I could do with a back injury. Before I didn't know what the dr meant by exercise but modify them. I found some exercises on the tape that I could do and even more from a book I bought at Barnes & Nobles. It is by Dava Sobel & Arthur C Klein. Backache What Exercises Work. There is a lot of good information in the beginning that work well with anyone trying to get more physically fit but I think those who are trying to keep the weight down with major illnesses will benifit from the type of exercises in this type of book. After a few weeks I was able to do 3 sit-ups. I was very proud of myself till a day later when I cramped badly but I think that was more from the stones I passed for several days. I hope to add more when I am done passing them but I am feeling more able to get some exercise in then just walking when up to it. A lot of people who are terminally ill tend to sit and lie down more- the book states that actually makes us feel worse. They gave a lot of tips to move without overtaxing or hurting more.
so glad to hear you are doing a little better. If you are able to get about at home, you could just walk from one room to the other occasionally. That may not sound like much to those who "exercise" a lot but if it is more activity than you usually do, it counts. Especially for those of us who are not able to "exercise" in the usual sense of the word.
