I'm leaving for vacation in the morning, though it doesn't really start until early Tuesday when I fly to California. I'll be touring Yosemite National Park for 2 days (my tour guide's name is Denise...hmm...what a coinkidink! hehe) and then will be staying in downtown San Francisco for 2 days to see the sights there. All in all, I'm gone 9 days, but 2 of those are staying in Maryland to get an early flight out or a late flight in.

Have a good week! I'll post a link to my pictures when I get back.

Sheri

I just had a chance to view the pictures. It looks like a fabulous trip, and it was so great to see you two having such a great time together.

That is so funny Denise. I feel like every time I go to get my hair cut, that day is when my hair decides to have a "good hair day".

I've only had a chance to view a few pictures, but they are phenomenal and you both look great!

I (sniff) have never been to San Francisco.

Every time I hear the city mentioned, I think of the song:

The only thing that we sort of missed was Fisherman's Wharf... but Sheri doesn't care for seafood. And I told her that the Wharf is sort of like Giradelli Square... but with more stores selling magnets and t-shirts and stuff.

If I had to choose between taking a ferry into Fisherman's wharf or the Ferry Building... I'd take the Ferry Bldg.

Looks like you guys hit all the SF high points! Hope at least one of my restaurant suggestions worked out. Next time, call me. I promise to be drama-free by then.

I'm also the same weight.

I was down 1.5 lbs yesterday... but nothing like Jillian's 30 Day Shred to make me retain 1.5 pounds of fluid.

So, I'm exactly the same as before you came out.
Smiler

PS... hard to look both "shredded" and "bloated". LOL! Stupid DVD makes me retain like crazy, though.

I WANTED that mirror in our hotel room in SF. That mirror took off 10 pounds! I seriously thought a couple times, "I'm taking this mirror home!".

I think that I look the same weight in photos... but older.

I look older than I did in the DC photos. But then I am. The difference between 39 YO and 42 isn't that much. The difference between 49 and 52... much greater. But then I didn't have any makeup on this week. And bad hair doesn't make anybody look younger. Smiler

Loved the pictures Sheri! Yosemite looks incredible.

Glad you had such a great vacation.

UGH...I don't know what's worse...the way my hair looks in all the pix or the fact that I look fatter in pix than I see myself when I look in the mirror. LOL

P.S. Had my first post-vacation weigh-in about an hour ago. NO weight gain from a week of eating out. That is very rare for me (my body is super sensitive to salty food), so it must be the result of all the hoofing we did. Smiler

Welcome home!

I bet Missy was glad to see you!

The pics are turning out great. Except, I am so ready to chop off my hair! But we didn't really have a whole lot of good hair days. Every time we went to the rest room... we ran into women bemoaning their "Yosemite Hair" (damp from water falls and wind swept) or "San Francisco hair" (damp from fog and wind swept). Nelson calls it "Old Man Hair"... like Albert Einstein, Nelson and I all go to the same hair dresser.

I'm home! Smiler Had a very late flight into BWI last night, so I stayed the night at a hotel and drove home today. I missed my puppy SO much the last few days, so it was nice to get home and get slobbered over for a while. Smiler

I had a WONDERFUL vacation with Denise as my tour guide. She has been to Yosemite multiple times and has lived in or near San Fran for years, so she really knew how to get around. Given that we used public transportation (and our own feet) 100% of the time we were in the city, that was a HUGE help!

I joked that we went from spending all of 4 hours together (when Denise & her family were in DC a few years back) to spending an entire week together this week...but it went splendidly. We got along great and had a lot of laughs! Smiler

Pictures of San Francisco, Sausalito and the ferry in between are up on my Flickr page. Yosemite pictures are next. You can see my pix here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sheriava/

Note: Some people (who are not members of Flickr or don't have a Yahoo account) have problems viewing my photos from time to time, but most folks get through. I'm not sure if you can use the slideshow feature if you're not a member but, when you get to my page, look just above and to the right of the top row of pictures and there should be a link for you to view the pictures as a slideshow. You won't get to read the captions I put on the pictures that way, but it is a great way to see them in larger size and get through them more quickly. You can even make the slideshow the entire screen and that is super nice.

I put Sheri on a plane this morning. Smiler

We had a great time! She brought perfect weather with her.

We couldn't make it to the Napa Wine country... but I'm 30-40 mins from the Livermore Valley wine country so we went out to Wente Vineyards for a nice dinner the first night.

Then out to Yosemite for 2 days. This has been a BIG snow year... and we planned it EXACTLY right, as the waterfalls were at their peak full... and I heard on the radio on the way back from the airport that the Merced River was approaching flood stage today.

Then we went and did a lot of the tourist things in San Francisco for 2.5 days.

Then back to my house, including a special mini tour of my home town of Colma... which is 2 square miles and has 17 cemeteries... but Sheri only saw 5... and then back to the San Jose airport.

We got along really well and I had a great time and I think Sheri did, too.

I didn't bring a camera, but Sheri should have lots of photos but it might take her a couple days to upload them.
