While my weight is only about 10-15 pounds heavier than my average now... I just do not feel healthy. My body is starting to feel extremely sluggish, and i have lost all muscle tone (I worked in a nursing home - active job!- for 9 years, have had a desk job for the past 2).

I don't know where to begin. I read this board a lot just to try to stay in a 'healthy' mindset. I just received kd's new book in the mail yesterday (I belong to the good cook book club), and it could NOT have come at a better time.

You guys are so supportive of each other, and I would love to be included in this great support group.

I see several people on here from Nashville, an extra special hello to them!

So, can I do this, or what?! Confused

I'm glad that you're feeling better already. I also just recently started posting and it was just what I needed to get me started. I, too, used to read all of the posts and think "someday".

Someday is now. You can do this! We can do this! We are doing this!!

90 day goal: 4 days of cardio, 3 days of strength training each week.

Smiler Of course you can do it!! The book is a great start too. If you just focus on portion control to start with and then work in some form of exercise, you will see a change. And of course, this is the place to be for support and encouragement!!

Of course you can!!!!
You just need to put your mind to it and do it!
Get moving again and you'll see results : )

I feel better already. Just typing it out makes it 'real' instead of a 'someday' thought.

For lunch today I got a turkey sandwich (ate half) and 1/4 lb. grilled aparagus (ate all). The asparagus his thespot. My body was craving good stuff!

Thank, all!

Of course!!! (Did you really think you were going to get any other answer from this group? hehe)

With us all helping one another, there isn't much we can't do! We may not get there fast, but we'll get there! Big Grin

Rest of Summer Goals:
1. Exercise-Cardio: Min. 2-3 walking or DVD cardio workouts per week.
2. Exercise-Weights/Toning: Min. 1 weight plus 1 toning workout per week.
3. Food: Get those veggie servings back up to where they were!
4. Behavior: Start reducing sweets now that the automatic after-meal response is better.

WElcome!

Yes, you can do this! In addition to the suggestions for walking during your lunchtime (I've done that when I worked desk jobs), why not go for a walk in the afternoon/eve when you get home. Maybe get together with some of the other ladies in Nashville to walk once or twice a week?

Blessings,

Lori

I'm from Indy. Indy has GREAT places to walk in the good weather. I'm sure ATL does too, I just have to find them.

Welcome! Of course you can join in the discourse, the more the merrier.

I understand about the desk job, going from retail management to a desk job.

Try walking as has been suggested. Others around here have found they must get up a little earlier and exercise. Although, now with the days getting longer (light wise), you may be able to get in a nice walk in the evening.

I spend many lunch breaks at Target (right down the road). While it's not good for my wallet, hunting out all the clearance merch does get me moving! Smiler

Of course you can do it! Joining in here is a good place to start.

It sounds like the biggest thing bugging you is the lack of physical activity caused by switching over to a desk job. Maybe a good place to start is to find a way to add 15 minutes of activity into each work day, like taking a walk during lunch.

Fall goals:
1. Bike 40-50 miles a week
2. Prepare new garden bed for next season
3. Heal my back
