He is going to the local community college. He'll still be here.
I'm trying to figure out how much leash to give him, now that he is an adult. I was living on my own half way thru my jr year of HS and a month after I turned 17... so this is new for me.
For the most part, we all get along. He is generally a good kid. Really the only thing he does that bugs me is that he will pull all nighters. (And the unplugging of my printer. But both Nelson and he do that. VERY annoying.)
I let him know that if he doesn't sleep... he can't use my car. And he is fine with that and doesn't give me a lot of back talk.
But he has said a couple of times, "I'm 18. I'm an adult". And just say, "That's fine. I wouldn't let anybody who has been up for 24-48 hours use my car. It isn't you".

Denise: Dh said that his second conference in NY they stayed near Rockefeller Center on the Radio City Music Hall side and that was a better location for them. I think as long as you are in a safe neighborhood near a subway stop, you should be fine.

It's crazy how fast time goes by! What are Jamie's plans after graduation? Will you be empty nesters?
We just had one of these little moments that remind us of time passing. We ordered pizza on Saturday for the first time in ages and dd said it was the first time she EVER remembers us ordering pizza and me actually having a slice. We looked at her like she was insane but when as we talked about it more we realized that she was only 2 when I started my healthy eating journey so really, this is all she remembers. She turns 10 in June.

We're also planning (planning to plan, actually) a day or two trip to the city. We are hanging with friends and family in NJ and want to make the trip in.
You could easily spend a week in NY and still not see it all.
My must sees:
Circle Line Boat Tour with the stop at the Statue of Liberty
World Trade Center site
Central Park - just walking around and going over to the zoo plus a stop in the Plaza Hotel lobby
the Natural History Museum
the MOMA
I also love just walking through SoHo and Greenwich Village looking at the shops and little art galleries but not sure if your family would be into that
Chinatown
As for hotels, dh likes staying in/near Times Square because of the central location. I lived outside of NYC so we always went in for the day.
