i want to bake a nice christmas looking cake for a group of workers i know who will be working all the way thru the 24th to the 26th with little break. something that decoratively actually looks like "christmas" any ideas?

I had a better time finding design ideas for a halloween cake on the internet, but not as much luck with the christmas cake. where is my Ace of Cakes when i need him? geez!

I made a Yule Log this weekend for guests. It looked amazingly log like with meringue mushrooms and truffles on and around it.

I was thinking yule log too.

How about a Yule log cake? It is a traditional cake. Basically a jellyroll/swiss roll cake decorated to look like a log with little meringue mushrooms.

I'm taking Gingerbread Cake into work today for a dessert potluck (I really don't like gingerbread, so I think it's terrible, but TJ assures me it's GOOD, and that the lemon curd on top makes it REALLY good). The lemon curd recipe makes too much for the cake, so I'm putting the leftovers into phyllo shells for a party we have to attend this weekend.

You could do a red velvet cake...or a chocolate cake, and top it with crushed peppermint candy.

If you like to decorate...what about making a bundt cake look like a wreath? Make the icing green, pipe some leaves and a red ribbon, sprinkle with colored sugar. Or two round cakes; set them side by side, cut one smaller, and voila! Instant snowman. White frosting, candy for the buttons, nose, eyes, and (if you have any left...) bark arms Smiler
