Thanks for the idears. I went ahead and tossed it, just in case. I had already had two servings, and didn't get sick, so who knows. Maybe kasha just isn't for me.

chances are, your kasha (or some of the ingredients in it) are rancid. BUT kasha does have a very distinct smell....but it doesn't smell like wet dog...at least not to me.

Some grains can go rancid. Sounds like that could be what happened to the kasha.
On the other hand, you could just have a minor head cold building. I've got something right now that the only symptoms are a headache and a really funked up sense of smell. I just made some toast that came out a wee dark, but to me it smelled like I had burnt the house down.
