I followed a lady around the store yesterday who was tossing bags of candy and other treats in her basket along with Easter Baskets. Obviously she was shopping for kids and Easter.
I remembered doing the same thing for my kids when they were young...and wondered if I would do the same if they were younger now. Now, I pack an Easter package for them with some dried fruit, a book or game, some nuts, and maybe a candy bar of their choice.

So what are you putting in your Easter BAskets this year?

It's never too late to get it right.

I'm with Cate. I would make it a work of art. My dad did this one year with a basket of a variety of beautiful and unusual candies from Europe. I nibbled on them and made the basket last the whole year. Everything was elegant and a new taste experience, tied up with a beautiful French ribbon that I still have today. What I learned was quality, not quantity, and to savor each bite.

Well as far as the kids go (hehe) paulie is getting a new cage with all sorts of treats and toys in it. Its really neat (he's my parakeet). Pookie, my kitty, is getting a new litter box, new food dishes and some catnip mice.

I'm putting a few really nice chocolates in dh's basket, along with a few gift cards. I'll get the chocolates from Catherine's (all handmade). maybe a few of their chocolate strawberries as well.

I am with Bee; I shop post holiday clearance sales. Dd is getting a nice chocoalte bunny, a diary with a lock (her request) and some cool sponges and soap for the shower (new shower independence at our house).

My problem is the neighborhood egg hunt that I am (again) hosting. Some of you might remember from last year... We had a HUGE amount of egg filled with chocolates. We have about 500 eggs stuffed and in the basement. I will likely be preparing at least that many more. I think I have had 2 Hershey kisses. Not tempted now. I know that can change on a dime. Will need to post here about it should the urge hit.

I must be a "bad" mom. I never fixed an Easter basket for ds. He didn't eat hb eggs until relatively recently and I didn't want all that candy in the house - so I didn't bring it in. I always made sure he had a brand new outfit for Easter.

My mom still holds an "egg" hunt in which she makes up a very small baggie with kisses and jelly beans in the back yard. Even though the youngest are 15, she still has this egg hunt for the grandkids.

I shop for dd's Easter basket treats right after x-mas when everything goes on sale.

So dd's basket has stick on earrings in her eggs, a barbie doll, a Little Mermaid beauty set, polly pocket clothes, a little pen...

I did include a 2 in chocolate bunny, a small box of organic jelly beans, and one small peanut butter egg. That's it : )

I definitely go overboard with gifts but it was all under $20 because they were on holiday clearance.

If I had kids, I would include food treats in their Easter basket...but I would make it the *best* food treats. I still have memories of these gorgeous marzipan bunnies my dad got in Switzerland for us...they looked like little pieces of art..I must have been all of 6 or 7 at the time.

We never were presented with a full, complete Easter basket though. My parents hid the candy around various parts (my sister and I each had specific areas). I remember when my mom decided I was too old (at @13) I then helped her hide the candy for my sister! Smiler (and held the dog down..she wanted candy too! *giggle*)
