Sheri I saw in today's homework some of your ?s about Pilates. Since it is my 2nd class today I am going to tell you based on my experience.

First, let me say Happy Belated bday. Hope you had a great one.

Like I wrote before this was my 2nd class and I have to say that there are a few things I don't like, but have found ways to get over them.

Depending on your gym and where they offer it, it may be on a hard floor. You do use mats and hopefully they have something else to keep it cushinony under the mat. I did that this time it made it a little more pleasant.

Issue #2 for me was the mirrors. Since I am taking Yoga on a weekly basis at a studio where there are no mirrors, which I have learned is a better self awareness techinique, this took some getting used to. After talking to a trainer last night she said really use to see about your form. I did and I am happier.

As for help with the class, if you may need it, really like every other class just speak up.

I would say try a class, if you don't like it then don't go back or try again if you want. This might be a reg. class for me.

If anyone else has any ?s I will happy to see about answering them or Sheri if I missed any of yours.

Oh I absolutely LOVE it. It works out every part of my body, right down to my toes. I like that it has each exercise done at three skill levels...you can choose to watch ONLY the person at your skill level, or watch a workout where all three of them are in the same camera shot. That's the one I use cuz, while I can follow Suzanne Deason (the advanced person) for about 90-95% of the moves, there are a few where I need to drop back to what the "medium" person is doing. Plus, by watching all 3 of them, you get to see more of the Hawaiian countryside, and that's a big bonus for me! (The DVD was filmed on Maui, Hawaii.)

I would say padded mats make such a difference too.

Thanks, Steph!

I wondered about the hardness of the floor. Where classes are given at our gym is a hard wood floor, like a basketball court. At home, when I do Pilates, I use a mat but it's on a carpeted and padded floor, so I suspect it would not be nearly as comfortable with just the yoga mat on top a hard wood floor! I know that, when we do floor work at the end of our aerobics class, if I get stuck with the thinner mat vs. the thick, padded kind, I can definitely tell the difference when doing some movements!

Thanks for your input.
