I like hearing about Non-Scale Victories so I thought I'd start a thread.
My latest is that I went to Ann Taylor Loft and found a great dress, size 12, on sale for about half of what it originally cost. It's a "little black dress" with spaghetti straps and a very nipped-in empire waist and a full skirt. They didn't have a 14 so I tried on a 12 and it fit perfectly, like it had been made for me. It flatters me because it emphasizes my waist, which is relatively small, and floats right over my hips and thighs.
I have an event where I am going to be photographed and I wanted something that would flatter my figure. This should work well.

Mother always has a bag of mixed Hershey Snack Size Bars open on the dining room table.
Yesterday afternoon they must have been calling me quite loudly because I rarely think about them being there. I avoid solid chocolate (especially on an empty stomach) because it causes me intense IBS pains but yesterday I reached in the bag and took out the Milk Chocolate kind and started unwrapping it. Something distracted me and I put it down, half open and left the room for just a moment. When I came back I thought "I don't want that!", folded the wrapper back down, put it back in the bag and took my bowl of white grapes out of the fridge and ate them.

I wore them to the Brewery, along with a close-fitting black sleeveless top, and my black heeled sandals. I even bothered to put in earrings -- which I haven't done in more than a year (they make me itch) -- and wore a little makeup (which I rarely do).
I usually just wear comfy jeans or shorts, a nice t-shirt or spaghetti strap tank, Pumas or flippies, my hair in a ponytail.
When I stepped out onto the patio, eyes turned my way, a few people stopped what they were saying, and I heard later that our mutual friend said to my GF, "Kori looks good doesn't she?" and my GF said, "yes, she does!"

I just got my anniversary surveys from the weight loss registry : ) It was pretty cool to complete it again and see what changed and what stayed the same.
Congrats to all on their NSVs!!
Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.
A parent at my school called me today to give me some info (her child is not in my class). She told me she must see me today to see what I was wearing because I am always dressed so cute and stylish (her words).
When she said that another parent in the room with her asked if she was taling to Mrs. Nelles (that's me) and when she said yes, the lady said I was the best dressed teacher around.
Wow, I have always thought of myself as frumpy, but not now

My NSV happened on Saturday. My dh and I went camping with friends and we went to a nearby lake which had a trail to another section of the lake. We took our mini-dachshund and her and I were in the lead. For only 7 pounds she can sure pull someone along and on the way to the other section I was going at a very good pace.
On the way back our friends daughter went in front and Little Bit was running to keep up with her which meant I was running too! I could have NEVER done that before and I was sooooooo proud of myself. Running on a challenging trail...I couldn't have walked it before without a breather and now I can run it! YAHOO

Carpet picnic!! My mother, sister and I use to do that all the time when I was little. When I got older my now-fiance and I would have carpet picnic dates. Cheat but fun. You could even get the chairs from the dinner table, place them in the living room in a circle and put at large sheet over them to make a tent. FUN!!
I wrassled the All-or-Nothing monster tonight and I won.
I had this great dinner planned: tofu and broccoli stir fry with rice. But I'm not up to making it. I've got a terrible cold and zero motivation to cook. The urge to order out is strong.
But I'm going to be serving PB&J sandwiches for dinner tonight. Maybe I'll even throw a blanket on the floor and let the kids eat picnic style so the meal doesn't feel like such a cop-out to them.
Fall goals: 1. Bike 40-50 miles a week 2. Prepare new garden bed for next season 3. Heal my back

My ring is too big! This is a ring that I wear to give the impression I'm hitched (for workmen and such). Tried to put it on this morning and it was basically falling off!
This isn't a new NSV, but it just hit me this morning was I was doing my Pilates for Weight Loss workout that I follow the advanced moves on 90% or more of the exercises in the 45-minute workout. Even the few that I can't do fully at the advanced level, I can usually do something between intermediate and advanced.
I just took a moment to stop and think about that and how great an achievement it is for an over-50, arthritic-spined, crooked-boned, tremendously inflexible woman who has never been athletic.
Made me feel pretty darned good, because Suzanne Deason, who demonstrates the advanced moves on the DVD, is one of the most flexible, lithe and fit women I have ever seen.

What a nice treat! I love going to the store and finding out I am in a smaller size than I think.
Great NSV! I like to measure goals and success by the way my clothes fit. I have notice that the scale hasn't necessairly gone down much but my clothes are fitting nicely!
I had one on Saturday. We went out to dinner at a nice place. So I busted out a pair of nice gray poplin dress pants that I almost never wear. The waistband is kind of high, and cuts into me when I sit down.
But not this time! When I sat down, they didn't cut into me at all. In fact, they were quite comfortable, and matched the pair of black heeled sandals that have been sitting in the bottom of my closet forever, because I couldn't find anything to wear with them.
