Has anyone taken a body pump class? It is a combination of choreographed moves using weights. Looks like a cardio/weight class combined. It is 60 minutes. I really want to give it a try but am worried I won't make it through Smiler

Yeah-I think I used 2 lbs on each side and my muscles were BURNIN'!!! I have not been back, have not been feeling well since Friday-going to dr today, most likely strep throat. Hopefully a good dose of antibiotics and i'll be back in classes soon! Despite the pain I love the class.

I took a class tonight and LOVE it! It is sooooo hard. My muscles were fatigued and I will be sore tomorrow but what a great class! I got there 5 minutes late so I missed the very beginning but the 55 minutes I was there was a tough workout. I have become obsessed with taking classes at the the gym. I have been avoiding them because in my mind group classes were aerobics-like what I did back in the 80's and 90's. Well let me tell you these classes are so NOT those old aerobics. I have taken kickboxing, zumba, body pump, and conditioning yoga classes. I realized how much I love these classes. You know, I always looked at exercise as the same, boring, mundane DVD or walk or workout. NOT SO!! There are so many things to do. I can do something different every single day, in the gym or out. And that is so exciting for me! After yoga Wed, Zumba thursday, and body pump tonight i think tomorrow will be a walk outside for 30 minutes. My legs and arms are pretty sore, I think they need a little break. It feels good to be excited about exercise and not dread it!

I have been doing body pump for a few months and really like it because it hits my major muscle groups in a 60 minute class.

The class is designed so that all levels of strength and cardio ability fit well. I suggest starting with super low weights so that you can learn proper stance, posture and moves. They talk a lot about the correct way to do squats and to keep your wrists straight for chest and tri tracks.

I was doubtful that it would be much of a calorie burn but I am quite warm and sometimes sweating by the end of the squat track.

I've liked the class a lot. Hope you enjoy!
