Well last night I went to make the bug repellant stuff that Bee posted the recipe for, and found that I am out of aloe vera gel. I have a very prolific aloe vera plant that we use all the time though....if I were to process the gel from that, do you think it would be ok in a small plastic jar for a week....without spoiling? If not, I'll go and get some commercial aloe vera gel tonight while I'm out.
Blessings,
Lori

I've heard of many uses, but I've never really used it. I had a burn about 6 months ago, didn't even cross my mind lol!! I just use the stuff in the first aid kit...perhaps the natural thing would have been better!
This got me thinking to make uses for it now..thanks! I knew other people used it, but I just never did! Pieces in the freezer, that's a great idea!
And here I thought it was just a nice house plant that grew a ton!
We use our aloe plant A LOT! Anytime anyone gets cut, scraped, burned, or just itchy, we go and cut a frond from the plant. I used to keep pieces in the freezer for sunburns, but we RARELY have sunburns anymore, so I stopped keeping pieces in the freezer My dh LOVES that we have this ready defense for the owies of life
Blessings,
Lori

Part of me thinks it'd be ok...but wonders if it is confined in a jar, sealed, and heats up (with the weather), whether it'd still be ok ? As it isn't still attached to the plant and isn't living anymore and I think it would break down after not having life (oxygen) attached to it. However, I haven't done that so I don't know.
Who I'd check with is a pharmacist, and tell him what you want to do and if they think it'd be ok. I have a plant, but funny, never use it. Perhaps I should as there are many great health benefits to it (as I'm looking this up).
