Monday- met both my goals.

Tuesday- spent only 15 minutes reading in am, but as it was a super busy day, I feel ok about it. I logged food. Caloreis were about 150 too high, but I can live with that. I have a clean day and a slow day planned today.

Great pics D!

As for me, I did great on everything but wine. DH opened up a really nice bottle of Benton Lane pinot and I had a glass with dinner. I'm not feeling too badly about it though as I worked it off lugging and assembling a 73 lb park bench for my front yard after dinner. I've also lost all the weight I gained this weekend plus a little extra.

I finally got a Flickr account, and we've been sorting through the pictures from our trip. As I type, only a few are up right now, but I'm going to add and organize as I have time.

Scrapbooking has never appealed to me, but this isn't half bad. No paper, no scissors, no mess!

Week 2-Hmmm, what happened to week two? I guess my head was buried in chips and ice cream. Let's just say week 2-total wash for me-did not meet one of my goals. And I was ready to throw in the towel for Week 3 but decided this morning that I'm not feeling all that great and it is because I am not taking care of myself. Sandy, I always enjoy reading your posts-you seem to really have a strong hold on what you need to do to de-stress and take care of just you-I need to learn to do that.

So, this morning I had 1/2 a tomato on top of 1/2 a bagel with cream cheese so veggie #1 is in for the day. It is about 10,000 degrees in my office(it is on the 3rd floor, the central air does not come up here, and the window A/C is not in yet) so water will not be a problem. I'm thinking about buying one of those little pools and sitting in it in my office rather than my desk chair, LOL!!!

I joined a local pool(for $180 dollars for myself and Morgan for the whole summer, not so bad!) and plan to swim laps(I started therapy on my leg/heel and they want me to swim vs. other exercises so there is no pressure on my heel) so I may be changing my exercise goal. I do like doing yoga-and apparently I am a lot more flexible than I thought-the PT thinks it is from the yoga. I am excited about swimming laps, I love to swim!!!

I'm at the folks which is always difficult in the eating department.
mom:" do you want me to make some chips and dip?, are you hungry? do you want some ice cream?"
AAAAHHH!!
but doing OK. I have had a few extra treats but trying to balance it out by not having some other things. It will probably be a wash this week.

I have learned to adjust my goals. I will NEVEr and I will ALWAYS are very dangerous words...

I have no idea why I had Aaron in my head...that's the SO of a former coworker but that's totally the picture I had in my head. Don't ask...my brain is definitely not functioning.

I love the Manitou Springs area. Can you believe I've never done that train ride on Pike's Peak? Crazy...

Well, if you find a way to spend some time in CO, you are welcome to come have a guided tour of any part of the CO Rockies anytime (and a guest room too!) Smiler

I decided that this wasn't the right time for an additional challenge for me, but good luck to all the challengers.

Doh! "GoingSkiing" = Colorado to the only-tried-skiing-once Texan.

TJ graduated from Colorado Technical University--they have online programs that his company pays for, so at 30, he got his Bachelor's Smiler

We went walking for two hours near the train up to Pike's Peak in Manitou Springs (we ate at Briarhurst Manor), and took the train up to the top. Amazing!!!

I realized just HOW MUCH I miss the mountains. I'm convinced that in a former life, I was a farmwife somewhere in the western states. My heart just lightens in the mountains--and I can't sit in the car and drive past them without ACHING to turn west and see what's on the other side.

I mean, I've been to California, so I kinda KNOW what's on the other side, it's the going through them that I want to do.

Nope, she was still a few states west but I'm here. Smiler I was actually out of town in waaaaay Southern CO (actually crisscrossing the NM/CO state line on a train all day Saturday) so we probably wouldn't have easily connected but don't you dare come back without saying something! <teasing grin> What school did Aaron graduate from out here?

I don't want to bump up Week 2 because it's way past that for everyone else...but did want to check in. I did get in a workout at the hotel this weekend, and we went on a sorta-hike with one of my brother's high school friends and his wife.

We were in Colorado (and I realized, too late, that I should have contacted Denise!), and because of the altitude and humidity difference, I guarantee I drank way more water than normal.

We ate at one really, really great restaurant, and while I did splurge on dessert, I took it easy on everything else.

So, I'm doing alright. These seem do-able to me, and I'm going to continue on.

(Cathy, about the fruits & vegetables--is there a farmer's market in your area? The stuff is SO much less expensive there. I also buy frozen vegetables a lot, since they keep longer and are sometimes cheaper than buying fresh--the store brand frozen green beans, for example, are almost always less expensive than the fresh ones.)

I give myself a B/C for the week just past. I was coming out from under a very stressful time around family and I am coming off of a busy school year. I mostly logged and took about 15-20 minutes per day on average for alone time. I know that I can do better for myself, but I also see that this level of self care under stress and just after stress is hugely good for me.

So... another week. I am gonna stick with my same goals and try to post daily on this thread as it is helpful for me.

I had a terrible eating week and weekend. Ate way too many sweets and had too much to drink.
I seem to be all or nothing with both of these areas.

I'm wondering if by saying "no sweets/alcohol" during the week I'm setting myself up for the "it's the weekend, lets party" mentality.

Right now I need to just focus on eating clean this week. I'm going to the market for fresh fruits and veggies this morning after dropping dd at camp and then going for a long run. If I want a 40 calorie popsicle (all fruit/all natural), then I'm not going to beat myself up about that. Chocolate brownie - no!

This week should be an easier food week for me until Saturday when we are hosting a big party for 24. We will have plenty of healthy foods since I'm cooking but people always bring desserts which may be more of a problem. I know at least one neighbor is bringing a big fruit salad though so I will need to focus on that and portion sizes!

Starting Sunday, I go back on my antibiotics for a week so no alcohol for sure then. That may help force me back on track.

1. Work on 10% by Labor Day
2. 64 oz. of water a day
3. Exercise 4 times a week
4. five veg and fruits a day
5. Positive attitude.

I'm re-evaluating here. I guess that's why I don't set long term goals, but rather week by week goals...I've avoided long time challenges for the same reason.

Working on 10%...I can work on anything, it's doing it and then achieving it that is hard to stick to for me.

64 oz. of water a day With the heat, this is not hard to do, and I've been exceeding it very easily. It's a maintainence thing that drives me nuts....but maybe if I can do this until Labor Day it will be a natural thing.

Exercise 4 times a week Why is this so hard for me to get right? Maybe because I can't swim, still got those ugly little shingle things, so no pool for me. But I do have my pilates tapes I can work on. Part of it is I am back into a depression, and don't do much of anything, except worry and fret. I need to deal with this, and find some success in finding a new home. I am in need of some safety and security, and right now, even my home I live in is like a fleeting thing, an enemy to speak. So I do nothing. This will be a big hurdle for me to jump

five veg and fruits a day Easy enough, but yet, at the store today, I would have had to take out a huge loan for fresh V & F, how incredibly depressing. The peaches were the size of kiwi's, and the kiwi's the size of grapes. What's that all about. Watermelon was over $5.00 a piece...I won't go on. Suffice to say, I got bananas and left.

Positive attitudeOkay, I know it doesn't sound like I have one, but this is so much better than a month ago. Yet, it could be better. I am feeling beat up....and I need to get over that. Prayer, talking to my group tomorrow, will be good, and my mantra...keep going...things will happen it will work!

I am keeping the same goal challenges, slow down, breathe, and remember that life is what you make of it....I'll make it good.

It's never too late to get it right.
