After 7 months of being displaced after the tornado destroyed our home, we will be moving in to our new home this weekend! We will even have Thanksgiving Dinner on card tables and folding chairs with paper plates and plastic dinnerware a few days before we actually move in. I am very excited. We will not only be the first in the neighborhood to move in, we are the only house that has even begun construction! The are still 4 empty lots all around me. The house is going to be so beautiful and I am still amazed how God spared my son and myself in our little linen closet as the rest of our house was completely destroyed.

Thats my story of Thankfulness. What's yours this year?

my exercise buddy told me this morning her husband just got diagnosed with parkinsons. what a reminder that we cannot take health for granted. i am thankful for health, for solid friends, for having reasons to laugh, for my family and for the circle of support.

4 people sat at our thanksgiving table who had lost everything in hurricane katrina last year. what a difference year makes. I am thankful for every day miracles.

Goals:
1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire.
2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy.
3. One word 2008: courage
4. Eat slow and mindfully.

Stephanie, Judy and Jill it sounds like you all have some guardian angels looking after you.

This year I have a lot to be thankful for. I have probably shared this many times before, but I have the best extended family. This time last year was impossibly difficult. We were spending so much time in the hospital with dad. we would get back to my mom's house and there would dinner waiting to be heated up. Or tons of surprise visits in the icu waiting room. The day he was put on life support we had over 30 people there with us. The love and support is still there, and family is always checking on us.

Just over a year ago, my best friend recieved a kidney transplant. It has been a trouble free year for her without any complications.

I have a job I love right now, working with people who also love their jobs. And I've been promoted twice since I started just shy of a year ago.

I have a husband who still amazes me sometimes. Its lots of little things. Like the other night, after working all three jobs, he comes home and fixes me tea because he knows I had a hard. Last week I came home to some roses, because we've been too busy to really do much.

Stephanie, what a WONDERFUL thing to hear! I'm sure that moving into your new home must be a great relief for you.

I also have told your story to quite a few people and they are always amazed--and that is without even seeing the incredible picture of the devastation your house sustained--and that little closet where you and Lane took shelter being the only thing left standing. Truly a miracle and I'm so glad you listened to the voice that told you to go there.

Goals:
1. Exercise-Cardio: 2-3 walking or DVD cardio workouts per week.
2. Exercise-Weights/Toning: 1-2 weight plus 1 toning workout per week.
3. Food: Increase veggie servings back to where they were.
4. Behavior: Reduce sweets.

You truly have reason to be thankful this year, Stephanie. Enjoy the dinner, the move and the new house. God protect those who are displaced from homes for whatever the reason.

It's never too late to get it right.

Stephanie, that is awesome! I'm so thankful that you and Lane were saved, and everytime I tell your story to anyone (including the Sunday school classes that I teach, as well as our AWANA group) they just stand amazed at how well you heard the voice of the Lord, and your quick response. Most of the people that I have talked to about it have said that they would have been standing their questioning "Why am I getting into the closet" and would have ended up getting killed in the tornado....now they have a full appreciation for listening to God and obedience to Him

Praying for a blessed Thanksgiving for you and your family, as well as a great move in weekend! You're going to have to send pictures to Martha Stewart (I've seen her do "follow up" phone calls before....maybe she'd call you back?

Love and many hugs and prayers of blessing for you and your family this coming year!

Blessings,

Lori

I am thankful that the good Lord sent me to good doctors and gave them the knowledge and expertise to keep me alive and get me well.

Aug 2006 was 6 years in remission.
Nov 10th was 6 years since my bone marrow transplant.

Stephanie,
That is so great for you and your family. It sounds like you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving in your new home.

I am thankful for the peace and happiness in mine and my dd's lives. Last year at this time I was ending an 8 year, very bad, verbally abusive relationship. It was a very difficult time, as was the 8 yrs. prior. A year later, my dd and I are finally happy. I feel like I am Jill again. So many suppressed emotions have been coming out and I actually feel things again rather than being numb. DD and I have such a strong relationship now and we have a great time together. So, I am very thankful for us getting our lives back.

Jill

Summer Challenge Goals:
1) Walk 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week
