We are hosting an egg hunt and I just bought all the candy-- 25 bags of assorted Hershey candies. So far (all of 50 minutes) I am willing and even happy to stay away. I know that I feel so much better on "real food" and that I am having success on my plan. However, last year I binged on Easter candy during my weight gain and I am still bashing myself for it. I want to do it differently this year. I am aware of this little part of my brain that says that I will eat the candy- can't stop myself- it is impossible for me to let it go- I am doomed to be fat. So, here is my plan to NOT eat the candy and to stay on my plan: 1. I will write at least 20 affirmations each day about postitives in my behavior to reinforce the fact that I have power and I am not doomed to overeat and to be fat. 2. I will stuff the eggs with my daugher and dh tonight and we will all see the number of eggs per child. I will also call the neighbors and let them know how many eggs each child gets. This will help me stay more open and accountable. 3. I will eat all the food on my plan- no skipping snacks. This is where I get into trouble and overeat. I could use any ideas, support from you all.
I have another idea for next years. If you shop ahead, you could get some little toys or something for some of the eggs and candy for others. Oriental Trading has tons of cute little things that they sell by the gross. Thats what I do at Halloween.

Sandy--Bravo to you for going into this with a plan and learning from last year. That's all any of us can expect of ourselves!
Hang in there, Sandy! You will do great!

I think that I'll seal them and have my DH put them in the dingy, spider filled part of the basement. I never go there and won't have them in sight. P.S. I've asked neighbors to keep them- so far all refusals as they are "too tempted!"
After you finish stuffing the eggs, how about sticking them and any leftovers in a box or bag and sealing it up well, with a note on top that says "Do not open till egg hunt!" Then stick the box in the back of a closet or the basement.

Great ideas! You are so brave to have all that chocolate at your house. I am awed. Your ideas sound super, and very positive. Keep it up, Easter isn't that far away, and you will be able to keep the fingers out of the eggs...because you want to come out ahead of this game!
It's never too late to get it right.
