My plan for today:
B: usual
L: tuna salad wrap
S: roasted red pepper soup
D: baked chicken, green beans, potatoes
E: all about chores today - mowing, raking, scrubbing.

I am with you today, Brie-- I made it just under the 1500 mark.

I did start some extra bites before dinner, but I was pleased that I stopped myself and I logged the extra bites.

This challenge is really helping me stay mindful of my goals!

I had no tuna at lunch and only 1 egg so I had a very unsatisfying egg salad wrap. It was not enough calories so instead of eating something good like an apple, I had two bite sized pieces of chocolate. I will still come in under my 1500 calorie max though after dinner.

I won't be around tomorrow so here's my tentative plan:
E: kettle bells
B: usual
L: veggie sandwich
S: 1 beer (hopefully a great lakes x-mas ale)
D: fish of some kind, veggie and starch (how's that for non-commital but we're going to the organic market and I'm not sure what will look the freshest.

I'm following along, too, even if I haven't been posting much. School, training, and work have kept me insane recently. I've also gotten sick for the second time since mid-September, so this time I'm trying to be more cautious in not going nuts and making things worse. (Bronchitis once a year is more than enough, thanks.)

I've been trying to stick to my normal plan better, I'm finding I need to back off carbs more than I was and am finally getting the scale to budge. This has been a challenge, considering I still have long spurts of nothing sounding good and not being hungry, which may be partly stress and partly the thyroid meds.

I'm done trying to figure it out, as long as I stick to being more careful about carby calories I'm getting somewhere. And I have bumped myself into what I'm comfortable with for a winter half marathon maintenance plan, so I'm good there, too.

Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.

I wrote out my plan first thing this morning and I've stuck to it so far.

I have to keep this post short because I have a full day and I haven't accomplished what I need to yet. But I wanted to add a little something about the issue of socializing and eating. I had an AHA moment on that front -- I'm not very good at small talk and I get very anxious around people I don't know well when small talk is the expectation. So what do I do to get out of uncomfortable (for me) conversations? Go back to the food table and/or the bar. No one expects you to keep talking when you're eating. Perfect excuse!

Unfortunately, avoiding parties isn't an option because DH loves them and especially loves to throw them. So I'm working on it....

We went to San Diego... just overnight... for my fil's 80's birthday. We went to Buca di Peppo which I don't care for... but what are ya going to do?

I'm really happy how I did... I'm happy with the scale today.

I did a 20 Minute Shred when we got home.

Off to exercise for another 20 Minute Shred.

So far today I have had my usual breakfast and am about to go eat a bowl of Oatmeal for my mid-morning snack.
I don't really care for oatmeal but need it to lower the ole cholestrol.
I find I can tolerate it better as a mid-morning snack instead of first thing in the morning for breakfast.
Rather than buying Apple Cinnamon flavored Oatmeal (with all the additives), I make my own by using the Quaker Plain Oatmeal and adding a 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon and 1 snack cup of Motts Granny Smith applesauce. After reading labels on all the applesauce snack cups, it appears that one has the better numbers.
Lunch will be a Boar's Head Lower Sodium Oven Roasted Turkey sandwich. By the time I finish lunch I will be up to 800 calories.
I don't know what we will be doing for dinner yet.

there is something to the socializing aspect. for me, i don't go to many parties, but even sitting with the fmaily. if one person starts snacking, i feel like i should jump right in. then later, i feel like such a weak-willed person, i mean...couldn't I just do my own thing instead of following the trail of penguins?

i had a pretty good weekend overall. i ran 1.5 hours saturday. then 1 hour and 15 min on sunday, so overall, it was 2 hours and 45 minutes over the weekend, along with a little weights at home. dd is really trying to get into shape so i take her to the park or the track. she is doing pretty well for someone who has done zero exercise for 2 years. she can finish 1.5 miles (oh to be 16 again!).
monday--i woke up not entirely rested, but i forced myself to get to the gym for a 1 hour workout. 45 minutes on the ellipt and then some weights. then it was home, where i did some push ups before my shower. i am having brown rice sushi for breakfast (on a weird craving right now)--this is my third morning having sushi for breakfast. i expect my workweek to be smooth, as it usually is. i have a long commute tomorrow which will bring me home very late, so i need to be more conscious of food choices. i have a protein shake along for my lunch, and i will eat a very early breakfast befor e i hit the road, and probably a lte dinner, so there may be stretches mid-day when i am hungry and i jsut need to plan for the uncomfortable feeling, or bring a banana along.

Goals:
1. Enjoy life!
2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention.
3. One word 2010: faith

I'm SOOOO there with you Jill. A couple of glasses of wine and all my resolve goes right out the window. This time of year is especially hard with all the holiday parties.

If you don't mind, I'm going to jump in here and join your challenge. I am going to think about exactly what I want my goal to be because I have several and will post it here later. One goal I want to set is going to focus on alcohol and dinners out. We have been socializing and going out a lot lately which means an increase in martini and wine consumption which in turn lowers my will to eat healthy so I usually end up eating high-cal/high-fat stuff.

Jill

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.
