I've gotten all the surgical opinions and advice I need. I've told friends and gotten their support. I've cried and yelled and sighed and laughed. I'm at peace with the decision I've made. Now all I have to do is show up at the hospital at 7 a.m. tomorrow to let them inject a radioactive tracer into my lymph system to assist with the node biopsy, then wait around for surgery.
Thanks again for all your support and prayers. I've been drawing a lot of strength from my various communities, including this one. I'll be back online with updates as soon as I can.
Just heard from the surgeon with the biopsy results: No invasion in surrounding tissue, no lymph node involvement! In medi-speak, that means I'm cured. No further treatment needed. Yay!
I was just checking in to give you all an update, and I saw the news about Judy's father. It certainly puts things in perspective.
I came home from the hospital yesterday. The anesthesia made me very nauseous and I hadn't eaten solid food as of Thursday afternoon, so my doctor wanted to keep me one more night. But now I'm "convalescing" at home and doing fine. The surgical site is uncomfortable but not really painful, unless I'm lying down. So, pain meds only at night. And I'm not supposed to push, pull, carry anything heavy, or lift my left arm above my head, which doesn't leave many activities other than TV-watching and walking. Good thing the Giants and Sharks are both doing well enough to be interesting!
Thanks again for your thoughts, prayers, and support. I'll be back to my old self in no time. This message has been edited. Last edited by: susanrows,
