My mom was diagnosed this week with breast cancer. It is Stage 1, caught very early. She is having surgery again on 7/5 to remove additional tissue and lymph nodes for biopsy. We saw the radiologist and surgeon yesterday and both are extremely optimistic that the cancer has not spread. She is having radiation starting some time after her surgery. The doctors have given her an excellent prognosis but it is still very worrisome and scary. If you could keep my mom in your prayers I would so appreciate it.

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.
We found out on Monday that one of three of the lymph nodes removed from my mom came back positive. It is a small area, 1mm. The doctor still seems very positive he will only be doing radiation and possibly Tamoxifen and not chemo. They have sent the tissue to be DNA tested and graded which means 3 more weeks of waiting. From what I've read online this type of testing will really help determine the best course of treatment and also give the dr an idea of the chance of recurrence.
If you could all keep my mom in your prayers and send positive thoughts/energy her way I'd be so appreciative.
My friend is walking in the Komen 3-day walk, her second year. She asked me to join and I really want to for my mom but they require each person to raise $2300 and their team started training last October. I'm not sure I can train enough or raise that kind of money to walk 20 miles a day for 3 days by early October. She sent me the training schedule and it is doable except for a few days when you need to walk 10+ miles in one day. I need to build up to that. My SO and I have been walking about 3-5 miles a few days a week, even in the heat. I figure if my mom can go through all this I can get out there in the heat and walk-I keep myself going thinking of her.

Oh, Jill, I'm so sorry your mom has to go through this! But I am living proof not only that early detection saves lives but also that prayer is incredibly powerful in these situations. Will be sending you and your family as much positive energy as possible.
