Do any of you that are Christians find that reading your Bible, and keeping daily touch with God helps you get through this journey? I'm starting to say a prayer before every meal, and asking him for his divine presence in my mind. I am a down to earth Christian, and I homeschool with a Christian curriculum. <~~helped me learn alot!

Just thought I'd ask this question.

I would not still be on this journey without my faith that the One who created me is the same One who wants the best for me spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. If my body is truly a temple and He has a plan for me, then I need to take care of my temple so I can be a better "vessel" for His use.

Little One,

There is no way I would have been successful at this healthy living thing (Starting with our switch to whole grains and unrefined sugars and minimally processed foods several years ago) without my faith in God. He is the one that gives me the strength that I need each and every day....do I notice a difference in the days when I don't have some time alone with Him first thing in the morning? absolutely! Esp. when it's been several days (or weeks Frowner) in a row!

You are such an amazing young lady, your dedication to everything in your life is so inspirational! I hope you share that with other young people that you are around.

Blessings,

Lori

I find on the days that I don't spend my morning quiet time with God (yes, I am a Christian) I do suffer, not just with my eating habits. My attitudes, thoughts, and actions tend to suffer from "grumpy-itis" because I haven't taken the time to remember where my strength comes from. It gets worse if I don't make it for several days.

When I get to a point where I want to eat something, but am not hungry, I start praying...there's generally something else causing the urge to "comfort" myself. Prayer refocuses my attention, I deal with whatever it is (or pray about it if I can't fix it) and then I go distract myself. Without prayer, distractions prove useless.

Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.

While not Christian, I do think that an important step in learning to honor & respect yourself (which is what I need to work on, since I tend to take better care of everyone else than I do of myself) is spending time with yourself in prayer or meditation. The 15 minutes I give myself each morning to sit outside and either stretch or just sit and "be" give me a quiet peace that I can try to recapture when the rest of the day gets hectic and annoying.

D

Challenge Goals:
*10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week
*Gym time twice a week
*Socialize at least once every two weeks.

I have definitely prayed to ask God for strength and patience a few times when I have hit those rough spots.

I even told Him the other day that I figure He must have some lesson for me to learn from this 2 1/2 months of going nowhere with my weight loss efforts and I sure wish I would learn the lesson quickly so I can get on with it. (grin)

Goals:
1. Exercise-Cardio: 2-3 walking or DVD cardio workouts per week.
2. Exercise-Weights/Toning: 1-2 weight plus 1 toning workout per week.
3. Food: Increase veggie servings back to where they were.
4. Behavior: Reduce sweets.

I'm not Christian, but I really do believe in the power of prayer. Touching base with Divine can help when you are hitting a rough patch. I start my day with meditation and prayer.(in the shower because it's really the only by myself time I can count on. LOL)
If I miss that, something is off until I do. Some people (myself included) need that kind of relationship with God. Christian or not.
We homeschool too but with a non religious ciriculum that we put together ourselves.
