Yay!!!!

I think I had about 500 cals in real desserts this weekend. It isn't like I eat some tiny insignificant number of dessert calories...

I had two little brownies and about ¾ cup of choc pudding at a pot-luck Sat. night, and 1 cup of tapioca I made at home yesterday.

I would have had that number of dessert calories no matter what - even if I had had another 100 (or more…) calories every night. So really, I saved myself 500+ calories this week not eating dessert M-F. Saving 500+ EMPTY cals a week IS significant (to me).

I KNOW that not eating dessert every night saves me from fighting nearly ¾ of a pound a month, which doesn't sound like much, but can add up to some significant poundage over a year or two. Plus, the stress of fighting the pounds and always being up in weight by 2-3 lbs can be significant.

I think that it is also stressful to be saving those calories all day long. You end up feeling like you are on a diet day after day after day thinking, “I can’t have a banana… I need the calories for dessert…” You can also end up physically hungry during the day… Saving calories and being hungry usually back fires on people.

Personally, I don't think that stress is worth 1/2 cup of ice cream every night.

Love, from your friendly, “I’ll never understand why the heck you people have to eat dessert every single night!?!?!” dessert nag.

That's an awesome decision, Brie...and the kind of decision *I* need to make to get back on the path to losing. I know that, with your sense of commitment, you will be successful!

Wow! Sounds like you're totally determined! I'm sure you'll do great.

Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
