Hi! and Welcome.
The "Baby Steps" thread has a lot of suggestions for getting started and the "Member Introductions" will help you get to know others on the board.
"Baby Steps" stays at the top like this one does but other threads move downwards with amazing speed sometimes, depending on how busy the board gets Smiler.
Instead of trying to read them all just scan the thread titles and click on any that sounds interesting to you.
Any if you have a question or need help with a problem just ask and you will get lots of tips and suggestions from others who have as the saying goes "been there/done that" Wink

Hello Kathleen and all,

I'm not sure how to start, but I'd like to join the Cooking Thin Fit Club. I'm willing to buy the book and I have an eager attitude. I also have oh at least 35 lbs to lose. I'd appreciate any support and encouragement I can get. I'm 2 years post partum (though most of my weight came and stayed after delivery)and I'm finally ready to start focusing on myself again, get fit, and feel great.

There are a lot of posts here and I honestly don't have time to read each one. Is there any specific ones "Welcome New Member" or any such ones that I can read through to get me started.

Thanks in advance.

Good for you girl. You are never "stupid" for doing what's right and good for you. So stop that negative talk and work towards losing that popcycle ")

Have a great evening,
Bonnie

I bought the book this summer....did 7 weeks (5 of them good lost a couple of lbs) and just 'remembered' it was on the shelf when I TIVOed the PBS special. ARG. am i crazy to do this right before Christmas. Anyway- was going to join the biggest loser online but thought- stupid stupid stupid... i don't need to spend the cash. just drag that book out and start tracking. I have all her books (not the new DVD) and just love them. I have a heart problem (congenital) so at the present I don't loose enought weight to burn off a sugar free popsicle...but just walking boosts my mood and helps me so I'm looking forward to starting again...

Hi everyone

Isabel - thanks for the response and the suggestions. I think this is a great approach, and look forward to "meeting" people on the boards.

hi pat, you could re-type the format of the daily entry and give yourself as much space as you need. then photocopy several pages , 3 hole punch them and insert into a binder. I did that because i write big.
It is a great daybook, that is certain. today, i am a bit tired from lack of sleep. when i get this way, i want sweets so i am really trying (like holding on for dear life) not to dive into sugar-pool! one motivation is that i don't want to have to write it in my entry today that i went overboard. my goal is to get more sleep tonight, which is really what my body needs, and start tomorrow more rested and ready to workout in the morning. thanks for listening.

Goals:
1. Enjoy life!
2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention.
3. One word 2010: faith

HI. I may have posted this somewhere else, and if I did, sorry.

Anyway, I just got the daybook, and I like it's approach. However, I'm having a problem fitting in all my food in the designated space. It seems odd to me that the space for "What I wish I hadn't" is the same size as for "What I ate". Am I missing something?

TIA

Pat

Welcome, mimofro! This thread doesn't get a lot of activity these days, but feel free to post out on the open board in any open thread (or start your own) so we can get to know you and you can get to know us! The folks here are very friendly and helpful...after all, we're all in the same boat!

HI! I just bought the book tonight and plan on starting tomorrow. I work nights so my schedule is a bit off! I have a video I love working out too and am trying to incorporate more veggies and fruits into my meals. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

I'm sooo happy, because I cannot afford to do a weekly program with WW or JC but need to get on track. I was part of JC, and had sucess, but did not reach my goal before my wallet was drained and I could no longer participate. I've been looking for something to replace it ever since. I am looking forward to being on here for sure!! Does anyone know what any of the serving sizes are for KD's recipes on this site? There's no nutritional info whatsoever, and I don't have any of her cookbooks!! Big Grin

Welcome to you! I'm glad that you found us!
This is a great place to post for accountability, suggestions and support. You can use the "what's for dinner" thread to record your food - planned and actuals and there are exercise accountability threads too.

As for nutritional info, KD doesn't believe in counting calories so she doesn't give that info. Everytime I've calculated out a recipe of hers though, it's always been healthy. As far as serving sizes, usually she tells you how many portions the recipe will make so just divide by that number.

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.

Ok I just started this today. My main goals this week are to cut back on how much I am eating out to primarily lunches ( I am on the road all day), cutting portion sizes, and making better choices when I do have to eat out. I am not putting exercise in yet....I don't want to pile too much on Smiler

Ok new week and new resolve. Eating was not great but the exercise was perfect. Am going to do some looking thru the 2 cooking thin cook books and come up with new ideas. Goals are:
1) I will watch my portion sizes.2) I will eat 3 meals and 2 snacks. 3) I will do strength training and/or aerobics 6 days this week.
Have a great week everyone.
