I haven't done this for awhile so I might be a little rusty.

New month, new season. What's new with you? We all like new things, different things. What about adding a new idea to your plan, just to spice things up a little? Could you use a new motivational idea? Could you change your routine of eating, exercising, drinking water, getting to bed earlier, eating/drinking more dairy? How about a couple of new vegetables or fruits in your diet? If you journal, add something else to your journal to keep track of, not just food and exercise, maybe an attitude check daily. If you don't journal, why not start, just takes a writing utensil and a notebook.

So, here's my NEW things for October:
Swimming is my exercise. It's the only one I can do and get any benefit other than relaxation out of it. So rather than doing just water walking and laps, I am going to incorporate some aerobics into it for 15 minutes a time. I love all the fall fruits and vegetables, but never buy many because of the cost. I will try a new vegetable and fruit everytime I buy my major groceries. I need to start taking some destressing time for me. So I will go to my room every night a half hour early and spend some quiet time to with me....doing NOTHING. That will be hard for me, I tend to be a multitasker about everything....doing nothing will be an interesting change.

Enjoy the first day of October. Think of something NEW and DIFFERENT that you can do for yourself. Share it with us, for we all learn from each other.

Cathy

well I can't be 100% sure about my "new" plan for October. Well it seems I'm a little "late" so I've revised my goal to reflect the just in case senario. For a little while weight loss won't be my goal, nutrition and exercise will be. At the end of the month the doctor will finally consider me "late" enough for a blood test, since the over the counter ones aren't working. So I'll be taking it a bit easy, but doing my best to stay healthy until I find out one way or the other.

A body builder is someone who tries to get the largest and most define looking muscles possible. They are the folks that stand on stage flexing and posing their muscles.

A power lifter is only interested in lifting/squating/pressing the most weight they can. It has nothing to do with the asthetics of the body and everything to do with sheer power.

Female power lifters look like normally sized/shaped women. The woman in our area who won her weight class is my height (5'3), probably 135 lbs and squatted over 700 lbs. You would NEVER tell by looking at her as she's very porportionate and has a very "girly" build.

New things for October:

Incorporate some walking or rowing into my workouts. The gym just recently got a rowing machine.

Most female power lifters are pretty small, it's the women body builders that are HUGE!

Hopefully I will make an appointment with one of the dieticians I have found next week.

I've already said this before, but I want to get back to exercising, journaling and so on. I am already back to drinking water like I should and exercising a bit more than I have been over the summer.

I will have to say that my goals have somewhat changed. Other than the obvious - loose weight, get toned, have more energy and so on....My goal everyday now is to make sure that I do what I should today so that I can wake up feeling good in the morning. So strange that my main goals isn't a certain weight or exercise level in the future months but doing what I can today so that I can feel good tomorrow.

BTW, I woke up feeling better this morning than I have in a week or more. Pat myself on the back!!!!! Big Grin

I just added strength training back into my routine and I really like the way it makes me feel powerful.

Well...we ate at a new restaurant yesterday. I planned it as a splurge meal, but the food was pretty average at best. I was disappointed about eating so many calories for not great food.
My plan for the first of October TODAY is to get back to my good eating and do lots of yard work.

After my marathon relay next weekend, I plan to switch my training focus back to strength training which I love the most. I'm actually contemplating competing in a power lifting meet in the Spring. I have some work ahead of me but my boss is going to put together a pendulum training schedule for me to reach my goal (to squat 2x my body weight). I've never trained this way so I'm excited to give it a try.

Big Grin I ride my bike about 4 days a week and play tennis on Tuesdays. I have just added a stability ball to my days. Before I jump in the shower, I stretch on the ball and do crunches.
