I did a 10 mile, 5 hour hike yesterday to exceed my goal for the week easily. Yeah! It was a gorgeous hike to a high alpine lake called Ouzel Lake in RMNP. You can see a pic here. The only downside was a long (maybe a mile and 1/2 or so) stretch through a nearly 30 year old burn area that has not had significant recovery yet. Very windy and a chilly wind at that. Not many changing aspen yet but there were a few really beautiful ones.
I have lunch ready for two days and dinners planned for the week. Need to get my workout clothes ready and I will be set for Monday morning!
DH and I are going camping this coming weekend for the very first time in our 20 years together! We are going with friends and we are taking our puppy dog. I am sooooo excited
Kat
Goal: Exercise at least 3 times per week.
Remember the positives.
Get the munchies under control!

Here I am again, back from the gym on Sunday. Well, there WAS an aerobics class today, and I did take it, but it's the kind of aerobics class I hate--highly choreographed with lots of twirling and directional changes. At least a third of the hour class was held with me not being able to see the instructor, which really puts a new student at a huge disadvantage (on top of the advanced choreography). On top of it being the kind of class I hate, the instructor made it worse by making comments about people not "getting it" and a lecture about not quitting the class because you're not "getting it." He must have read my mind, because I was THIS close to quitting, but didn't.
After that, I didn't bother staying for the second hour, which is sculpting with weights. Besides, I just did a half hour or more of heavy lifting yesterday so I really didn't want to do two days of upper body in a row.
I also did 1/2 hour of lower body weight training before the 9 a.m. class.
Summer Se7en Challenge Goals: 1. Add back core & toning work + weight work 1X each per week to start. 2. Tackle the Sugar Monster--Have a sugar free mint after lunch and dinner, wait 20 minutes, and reassess the need for a sweet treat.

Here I am again, having breakfast and about to go to the gym. I hear there is a 9 a.m. aerobics class and a 10 a.m. sculpting class on Sundays--different instructor than Saturday, but he gets good marks from the ladies in my Saturday class (some of whom will be there today), so I'm going to forego my usual Sunday morning laundry routine and try it out.

Today was a good day as far as exercise and food goes. I forgot to write down my food... I kept meaning to, but I wouldn't have eaten differently.
I went to the Y and had a really good workout and very good experience there.
My trainer was there with a person who is having knee surgery soon. She said, "Dominic was just bragging about how hard you've worked and you injured your knee in March and then were able to go water skiing this summer!" So that made me feel good.
But, I also got some bad news about an old friend who is sick with cancer. She is young - in her 30's. And that was a bummer.
And I also want all the Fly-ladies to know how much I enjoyed our virtual cocktail party on Friday afternoon. I’ve been laughing about it all day! And I really appreciate your friendship.
Again, I was OK calorie wise but made not the best substitutions because I ran out of fruit and veggies (my dh raided the fridge and I didn't find out until right before lunch).
After breakfast tomorrow, I'm heading to the market to load up on the good stuff : )
summer 7 challenge goals: - Meditate every day - Start the day with positive imagery and self talk Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.

I am thrilled, I went to my second weigh in with fear in my heart....I'd not planned as well as I usually do, had too many events and things that just didn't fit into eating according to my plan. I knew I had gained my lost pounds back from the week before. I usually blow the second week...but much to my surprise and happiness, I had lost another 5.6....you can't imagine my surprise and feeling of doing it right. YEAH Cathy
Summer Challenge Goals:
1. Get out of the house and in the pool four days a week. 2. Schedule meals a week at a time. 3. five fruits and vegetables a day, along with water.

I'm doing okay with my portions, although I am struggling with my ice cream cravings. I have planned ahead so that I have enough food to get me through another really long day at the "fun job".
Exercise has been good, and my trainer said I'm looking thinner...so I guess I can't be too upset, despite my dumb scale! (Fortunately, I'm not looking for numbers on the scale right now.)

Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
Back from the gym and having lunch. No aerobics class again. But went ahead and had a good workout for almost 2 hours.

Having my b'fast and heading to the gym soon, hoping that I'm going to find an aerobics class this week (last week, I got there 30 mins early to lift before class and found out there WAS no class--instructor was out of town).
Didn't think I'd ever MISS an hour of tortuous exercise, but I really am missing this class!
