Is your mind flexible? Do you read or do puzzles or play games? Do you help your kids with their homework (and learn in the process)? Do you leave yourself open to new experiences? Try some language equations. Or guess the U.S. state by its outline.
Is flexibility easy for you, either in body or mind (or both)?
Challenge Goals: *10 minutes of unplanned exercise five times a week *Gym time twice a week *Socialize at least once every two weeks.
Are you flexible? Not as flexible as I used to be, but still pretty flexible.
Do you stretch your muscles sometime during the day? Do you take breaks at work and give your hands/neck/shoulders a rest (if you work at a desk)? I really, really try to do this throughout the day.
Is your mind flexible? Yes Do you read or do puzzles or play games? I read every day, I love playing word games on line, and DS and I try to play games regularly. DH and I play poker pretty regularly.
Do you help your kids with their homework (and learn in the process)? Sometimes...DS usually has his homework done before he gets home. Not to mention, I don't think his homework would be very challenging for me, he's only in second grade.
Do you leave yourself open to new experiences? I think so. I love trying new things and going new places.
Is flexibility easy for you, either in body or mind (or both)? Yes to both. In H.S. when we did the Presidential challenge testing in P.E. I had the highest score in my whole class (whole freshman class, not classroom class) in flexibility. Again, I'm not at that level now, but I noticed when I was doing yoga, that it didn't take me long at all to reach the point where I could stick my leg behind my neck.

Is your mind flexible? Do you read or do puzzles or play games? Yes...
Do you help your kids with their homework (and learn in the process)? Not so much now. He can do it all himself now.
Do you leave yourself open to new experiences? Yes... but I also tend to be in the "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" camp.
Physically... I'm ok flexible... but not REALLY flexible. Stretching is the first thing that I'll leave out. I'll do cardio and strength work... and forget stretching.

Mental flexibility iw pretty good. I love doing puzzles, soduko, logic puzzles, word games, etc.
The physical flexibility has been harder. I do get up and move - I can't sit or stand for too long. I'm sure as the weight drops, I will get more flexible.
This homework could not have come at a better time! The orthopedic surgeon asked me today if I stretch before/after working out and I said no and he said that is a big problem and that could be part of why I am having these muscle issues/tears.

Summer Challenge Goals: 1) Walk 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week 2) Plan weekly menus
Let's see, I am getting to be more flexible physically because of weights and swimming. My muscles in my legs get very tight because of pain, and my arm, gets to the point of having knots in it because of the pain. But I have learned how to stretch and make that better...still a lot of work to do.
And then there is flexible in life. I feel I can flow with the go, by being flexible and open in my thinking, maybe much too flexible or liberal for most...but then that's my thinking...I tend to give new ideas and ways of doing things the benefit before shutting them down.
Flexible mindwise....I love to work with my mind and work out word problems, word puzzles, etc. I think that having a creative mind and spirit helps keep that going. I love reading all kinds of books so that the braincells don't flat line. I read that the reason so many people lose touch with life, is because they aren't using their brains. People who push their brains to the limits of thinking are far better off in all areas of health, I don't intend to be the crazy old lady in our family.
It's never too late to get it right.

I'm pretty flexible in both mind and body. I would wager a bet that 2 semesters of math & engineering classes have made my mind more flexible than my body.
But my body gets stretched daily after I finish working out. I can almost bend myself in half to get my nose to my knees, but not quite yet.
If I have a break from school, I can often be found working a Sudoku or crossword puzzle. I also like "smart" movies & television programs that make me think. My current favorite is "Numb3rs" which makes it really tough to guess the culprit.
Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
Yes. I'm getting more Flexible as I continue to strength training (it's nice to be able to bend over and touch the floor without it being a major event).
Do you stretch your muscles sometime during the day? Do you take breaks at work and give your hands/neck/shoulders a rest (if you work at a desk)? Yup. I get up every so often and walk. I also try and stretch my neck out on a regular basis.
Is your mind flexible? Do you read or do puzzles or play games? Do you leave yourself open to new experiences? Yes. I am voracious reader. I like to try new things as often as I can. I do like to play games and do puzzles, but I don't do them as often.
Is flexibility easy for you, either in body or mind (or both)? It's getting easier for both mind and body flexiblity.
Sadly, no, I'm not flexible at all. It's the one area of my fitness where I haven't made any progress. And I disagree that it's one of the easiest and fastest improvements -- I've worked and worked at it, and I don't seem to be any more flexible than I used to be. I do stretch and cooldown at the end of the every workout, but I still can't reach past my feet when I'm sitting with my legs straight out in front of me.
Yes and no. I have HORRIBLE flexibility in my spine and in my neck...I've had osteoarthritis in my spine much of my adult life. I was born with slightly crooked legs (and arms) and apparently that throws off the way I walk...and having carried a lot of weight the majority my life just makes it worse.
As a result, both times I tried going to a yoga or similar class, I end up in tears because I could not do (even close to) what everyone else was doing.
Do you stretch your muscles sometime during the day? Do you take breaks at work and give your hands/neck/shoulders a rest (if you work at a desk)?
Yes. I take regular breaks both for mental and physical "stretching." If I am in the elevator alone (or waiting for the elevator alone), I may do some minor stretches there. I use the computer a lot and I read a lot so I have to take breaks from both to rest my eyes, hands and brain.
Is your mind flexible? Do you read or do puzzles or play games?
I play computer games regularly and try to work in things like crosswords and other word games now and then to keep myself sharp. I read every day. I'm nearly always reading two books at the same time (one at lunchtime at work and one at bedtime at home).
I took French in high school but have taught myself pieces of two additional languages on my own in adulthood--at one time, I was somewhat proficient in Signed English (one form of sign language) and I learned a (very) little Spanish for my trip to Mexico in 2004.
Is flexibility easy for you, either in body or mind (or both)?
Yes and no. As I've said many times here, I'm a very routinized person so I am steeped in sameness and routine. Sometimes, change can be difficult for me...usually it's the THOUGHT of change...the fear of the unknown...but in the end I usually adapt well. I have been thrown a lot of change in my career--my job and I have been reassigned several times to different organizations and I have taken on new functions at each step--but I have adapted well after an intial bout of resistance.

Do you stretch your muscles sometime during the day? Do you take breaks at work and give your hands/neck/shoulders a rest (if you work at a desk)?
I have the unfair advantage of spending many hours at the gym working and stretch often.
Is your mind flexible? Do you read or do puzzles or play games? Do you help your kids with their homework (and learn in the process)? Do you leave yourself open to new experiences?
Yes. I start every day with a sodoku, crossword and cryptogram puzzle. I also love learning and enjoy taking new CEC cources, helping dd with homework and doing any kind of mind challenge. I also love to experience new things.
Is flexibility easy for you, either in body or mind (or both)? Flexibility in body was tough for me before I got more activity but now it's fine. In mind, I've always been good at finding alternative solutions to problems and having flexible thinking.
