You don’t have to post the answers to these questions unless you want to but give them some though in the upcoming week.

Take some time and think about what you would like to change in your life.

1. Is there something you would like to add, such as more meaning in your job, a new relationship or a deeper spiritual connection?

2. Is there something you would like to reduce, such as weight, negative thinking or stress?

3. Is there something you would like to change, such as where you live, your job or your attitude?

4. Is there something you would like to let go of, such as resentment, anger or pride?

1. do 4 laps on walking track without "resting"
2. do 1 mile (17laps) in 20 minutes (3miles per hour)

1. Is there something you would like to add, such as more meaning in your job, a new relationship or a deeper spiritual connection?

A new job would be great. This will take schooling and determination(not to mention quite a bit of money), but I know that getting into a career that I actually like would change a lot in my life.

2. Is there something you would like to reduce, such as weight, negative thinking or stress?

Like Sheri, all of the above.

3. Is there something you would like to change, such as where you live, your job or your attitude?
I would love to move. And that may happen in the next few months. As I mentioned above, I want to change careers, and I can always use help in the attitude department. I tend to be negative about a lot.

4. Is there something you would like to let go of, such as resentment, anger or pride?

I would like to let go of my insecurities and my jealousy issues. I notice that a lot of my time is spent thinking about how I wish I looked like someone else, or wished I was thinner, or had nicer hair, or a better body. I compare myself to others and it is definitely damaging and makes me feel bad about myself.

Summer Challenge Goals:

1.Is there something you would like to add, such as more meaning in your job, a new relationship or a deeper spiritual connection?

I'm want to be more involved in dd's school this year. Last year I let my work schedule dictate when I could and couldn't volunteer instead of just saving a day for being at school. This year I'm making the committment to keep 1/2 a day open for volunteering in the classroom every week. I'm figuring that dd wanting me to be in the class won't last forever and I should take advantage of it now. Plus she has a teacher who really wants parental involvement which was not the case last year.

2. Is there something you would like to reduce, such as weight, negative thinking or stress?

I need to reduce the stress that my parents relationship is causing me. It's of my own doing and I need to work on removing myself from their issues and maintaining very, very clear boundaries.

3. Is there something you would like to change, such as where you live, your job or your attitude?

Not really. I'm pretty satisfied with our community, home, friends, work, etc..

I'm still struggling as to trying to decide about getting into hospice work. I was planning to start volunteering this Fall but honestly, right now trying to work, volunteer at school and the hospice seems too overwhelming. I'll see how it goes the first semester of school and can always add it in later.

4. Is there something you would like to let go of, such as resentment, anger or pride?

I need to let go of some issues with my dh. I'm not comfortable going into them in detail though.

Out of our beliefs are born deeds; out of our deeds we form habits; out of our habits grows our character; and on our character we build our destiny.

1.Is there something you would like to add, such as more meaning in your job, a new relationship or a deeper spiritual connection? I would like to be able to go back to church. Not the building, not the people, but the spirituality of being in church.
I really have a hunger in my soul to be in a place where there is peace and serenity.

2. Is there something you would like to reduce, such as weight, negative thinking or stress? I am a fatalist, a negative thinking person about most things in my life. I haven't had much success in life, and that causes stress. I can see it just in my glucose numbers, high stress, high numbers. I need to find a place to learn to relax, deal with stress and my negative thinking about life.

3. Is there something you would like to change, such as where you live, your job or your attitude? I had a job I loved more than anything, being a mother, and then being a teacher. My children are grown and need a mother only on few occassions, like as a consultant. I would love to go back to teaching in a classroom but my disabilties and the amount of schooling to get my certificate back would not be cost or time effective. I have to start at square 1. I miss those things greatly, and maybe that's part of my negativity. I definitely have to move out of this town. This town and the people are very negative thinkers and believe it or not I used to be the most positive, up beat person I knew....now 24 years later, I have adopted their thought patterns. I need to move!

4. Is there something you would like to let go of, such as resentment, anger or pride?
I hate the place where I live, I hate the people that live where I live. In particular I hate the people who run the established town. I would love to get rid of this hate, but it follows my family and myself around. I don't know how to get rid of it.

Summer Challenge Goals:

1. Get out of the house and in the pool four days a week.
2. Schedule meals a week at a time.
3. five fruits and vegetables a day, along with water.

1. Is there something you would like to add, such as more meaning in your job, a new relationship or a deeper spiritual connection?

Joy in what I have, courage to deal with life, and the energy to finally work at finishing my degree.

2. Is there something you would like to reduce, such as weight, negative thinking or stress?

Weight, anxiety, fear, and stress, not to mention ill health.

3. Is there something you would like to change, such as where you live, your job or your attitude?

My attitude. I always believe the worst will happen to me.

4. Is there something you would like to let go of, such as resentment, anger or pride?

Certain inferiority complexes have haunted me for most of my life. I wish I could just be rid of them.

1. Is there something you would like to add, such as more meaning in your job, a new relationship or a deeper spiritual connection?

I would like to add a sense of my using my talents and skills to help those in need on more of a 1-on-1 basis (through volunteering) vs. using them on a broad, indirect basis (through my job which does, in the long run, help many people).

2. Is there something you would like to reduce, such as weight, negative thinking or stress?

I'll take "All of the above," Alex. I have been working on reducing the negative thinking over the past few years--first, regarding food and now, regarding my life in general--but still have a ways to go. I've also got a plan to reduce stress--to retire from my job, because otherwise, I don't see any other way with the way my job has been going the past few years. Obviously, I still need to lose weight.

3. Is there something you would like to change, such as where you live, your job or your attitude?

Again, I'll take "All of the above," Alex. Changing my job will be retiring. Changing where I live will hopefully be moving from the DC area to the beach in Delaware when I retire and I am relatively certain that a change in attitude will follow those two things. Smiler

4. Is there something you would like to let go of, such as resentment, anger or pride?

I feel like a broken record but "All of the above, Alex." I would love to let go of my resentment toward my parents regarding my childhood, my anger toward my employer regarding being dumped on and taken for granted and my pride regarding just about anything. Not to say that pride is a bad thing--certainly not--just that too much of it can blind us to what is really important.

Summer Se7en Challenge Goals:
1. Add back core & toning work + weight work 1X each per week to start.
2. Tackle the Sugar Monster--Have a sugar free mint after lunch and dinner, wait 20 minutes, and reassess the need for a sweet treat.

i am in a funky transition time right now, so i guess i would just love more clarity about everything. that dd is going to be ok. that i know what career i will be doing and that it will be able to provide a decent living and good overall satisfaction.
i would like to let go of anxieties and be more at peace with things. i would like to be ok with the lack of clarity right now, and have faith that things happen when they happen.

Goals:
1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire.
2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy.
3. One word 2008: courage
4. Eat slow and mindfully.

Other than adding an engineering job and subtracting a library job, I don't think that I need to add anything else to my life right now.

I'd definitely like to reduce more of my total body mass, there is definitely too much of it.

I've been working on changing my attitude for years, but I have to say that the Beck book has come in pretty handy for that purpose as well.

But I also suspect my attitude will need worked on for a long time to come. Like reducing my overall size, making changes to lifelong attitude habits require time as well.

Life is like a roller coaster, with lots of ups and downs, but the curves, spirals, loops and corkscrews are what make life interesting.
