Too much dessert, too much wine this weekend.

Back to clean, on plan eating today and there will be some challenges coming up. I need to stay focused!

My goals for this week:

1. Get through three dentists' appts (not all mine).
2. Regular meals (I'll be working from home).
3. Regular work efficiency despite SAHMing.

Had 2 great walks today with Missy...45 mins at 7 a.m. and 30 mins at 7 p.m. Beautiful day, but now we're heading into a whole week of rain (AGAIN!) so I will be getting most of my cardio at the gym.

I was stuck for 10 days at the same weight, then have gone up .5 pounds each day for the last two.

I'm extremely frustrated, because my exercise levels haven't been that different from normal, although I'm doing more cross training than running due to my knee being funky, and I've eaten an extra serving of carbs at dinner that I wasn't eating before the great stuck occurred (My calories level haven't really changed that much.)

But I can't tell if that is the problem, if my body is just stuck and refusing to budge (which it has done before), if I'm taking in too many or too few calories based on my BMR of 1550ish (and not accounting for activity), if there are salt issues making things worse, or if my lack of running is what is killing me.

I'm cracking down on the carbs at dinner thing, but am at a loss as to figuring out where the problem lies.

i am very proud to say that i listened better to my body this week. when i lacked sleep, i got rest. when i could not finish my workout, i stopped. the AC has been out at the gym--yeah, really comfortable as you can imagine. many of us are having trouble breathing with the humidity. i don't know how those hard core runner do it in the summer, honestly. i heve not been able to finish my entire routine all week long. so i have adjusted my eating. almost all snacks were elimnated.

TOM came last night, and i am in terrible pain. i looked up some natural rememdies for cramping. i started taking Dong Quai. had chamomile tea this morning. hope this will help in the long run.

Goals:
1. Enjoy life!
2. Be aware, be awake, pay attention.

Good job Sheltie! I'm jealous of that 5 miler in the park. I'm sure my mental health would appreciate that even more than my physical one!

I've been pretty good foodwise most of the week, but the whole end of semester let down and change in routine has been really trying. I've been stuck in the same place for three days scale-wise, but a distinct lack of exercise (because I've been so overtired & off schedule) probably is why.

I made my first batch of almond butter yesterday. I am a peanut butter junkie & was inspired by a mention of almond butter in a book I've been reading. (And too cheap to pay $5.00+ per jar when I checked it out in the market. Not that almonds are cheap either, but I think I still came out ahead.) I was really happy to discover it's better than peanut butter!!! Now I have to figure out how to use it sparingly, as I've been sorely tempted to sit down with the whole jar and a spoon.

I leave for Florida on Tuesday, armed with a menu plan, a grocery list, and some packed goodies. I'm aiming to only have one eating out day, the rest (minus one trip to Chick Fil A) should be stuff bought at whole foods & cooked at the sis'. There should be lots of exercise walking around, and I still plan to keep up my training schedule, but that will be two weeks off a routine, which is never good.

Happy Birthday Jill! I hope you have a great day.

***

Thursday was bad for me. Great exercise wish but I had an ice cream substitution at snack and then had wine and chocolate at dinner.

Today will be "clean" but tomorrow will pose some challenges as we're getting together with friends. I'll be cooking though so we'll be doing something healthy.

Not a bad day, not the best day but I had a 2.25 hr. dance class tonight and we danced for most of that time with a few short breaks. I stuck to one serving of dinner (pulled chicken bbq, baked french fries, and coleslaw that I made to control the mayo content). I'm sure I burned quite a few calories tonight, hip-hop for 45 minutes sure gets my heart rate up. I am a little worried about the weekend as tomorrow is my b-day and I know there are dinner plans being made for Friday and possibly Saturday too. I am planning to get a gym workout in tomorrow after work. Saturday I have training at my new PT job at Home Depot, Sunday gym.

Good day exercise wise but bad food day. Ice cream for snack and wine and chocolate at dinner and it was stress eating to boot. Not good : (

i also thought Kirstie was very revealing and honest. it is hard to be that honest in front of the entire country! she very well could have just stayed out of the limelight, got back on the horse, and then talked to oprah after she re-lost the 83 pounds but she chose not to.

i relate more to Valerie Bertinelli, but I like Kirstie's sass and courage.

I just read the Alley article and really appreciated it!

I could relate to almost everything she said. She did not weigh in 15 months and gained all the weight during that time. (Interstingly, she did not think she gained THAT much weight.)

I also related to her idea that "she made herself stupid" and "forgot" that a tablespoon of better has 100 calories and that you start pretending that it will not make you fat. I would throw ignoring labels and portion size uder this category.

She seemed super real and practical.

I especially liked how the article ended:
"Get back on the horse, lose the freakin' weight, and then just move forward!"

Wow, an 83# weight gain since 2007 is pretty darn fast. Her BMI is all the way back into the obese range.

Unfortunately not hard at all to gain that. Since April 2007 I have gained 30lbs. sadly. I know people who have gained 30 lbs. in 3 months. I can't imagine how she feels. The weight loss battle is hard enough without being a celebrity. I agree w/Iz that she may not have being doing it for the reasons that make you successful in the long run. It cannot help matters that the pictures of Valerie Bertenelli, the new Jenny Craig girl, are all over the place. I hope that Valerie does not have the same problems when her contract ends. Or is she with WW? I can't remember. I think it may be the same with the BL contestants. I do think a lot of them do really learn better habits and develop a healthy mindset but that $250,000 prize sure is motivating. What happens when the cameras go off, the money is not won (or won and depleted)? Do they maintain? I am a BL fan, but I often wonder how they fare after the show ends.

tuesday was super dooper awesome. wednesday---more of the same (that is th eplan anyway!)

I feel for Kirstie because i know this is a journey for most of us. rocks long the way is part of the deal. my impression was that motivation and how she thought about the whole weight loss was a BIGGIE. she said that Jenny Craig had her on a contract. if she lost, she got paid. she got weighed every week. seems pretty straight forward. lose--get cash. once the ocntract was over, she stopped exercising for for 1.5 years. that tells me she was not doing it for reasons that stuck for the long run.
i also understand she is now developing her own weight loss program/products. will be interesting to see what this is all about.
