Evaluate your weekend plans. Think about what you're going to be eating, where the challenges lie and what you're going to do for exercise.
Now, challenge yourself to work in more physical activity than you normally would. Stretch your workout is the obvious but exercise can be play! Break out the roller blades and head to a beautiful park, go to Loews and stock up on pansies and beautify the view from your kitchen window, go to Walmart and pick up a bucket of sidewalk chalk and see if you can make the world's longest rainbow down your street and back. Think out of the box, play out of the box. Have fun, move more, lose more!
Extra credit: Post your plans here. You just might inspire someone in need of a few great ideas. And besides, accountability is motivating!
Instead of Friday night pizza night, I'm going to help my neighbor spring clean her yard. It's gorgeous outside!
Tomorrow morning, I'm going to pick up at least one flat of pretty flowers and plant them despite the fact that we probably aren't out from under that darn last frost...I'll pick something hardy!
Sunday, I'm cooking all day but I'm gonna squeeze in a bike ride outside - my first of the season!
Oh, and I forgot to mention that after work on Friday I walked 1/4 mi and ran 3/4 mi. Then I went to the gym and did some weights. So I felt pretty good about that.

I don't really get a star, but it isn't my fault, I promise! Something of the rodent family crawled into a wall of the kitchen and met an untimely end, so the kitchen was just noxious.
We did, though, drive to Orlando to go to Whole Foods and spent about an hour shopping there, and went to Fresh Market (never been there before, was fun) and did some shopping there. Grilled some chicken & corn on the cob for dinner, had brunch at a new place on Sunday, and took the dog out for extended walks, as it was more pleasant OUT of the house than IN it.
So things didn't go as planned, but I felt like I dealt with it better than I usually do, and didn't crumble under the "OHNO things aren't going perfectly!!!!!" self-imposed stress.
Just for the heck of it, and maybe a gold star from the teacher for extra-extra credit, here is what *actually* happened this weekend, compared to what was planned. This is hugely long - be forewarmed.
quote:My GF is coming over tonight. I might try and twist her arm so we can go get sushi.
So yes, we went for sushi. I had "Sedona rolls" - tuna, salmon, carrot, avocado, and some kind of roe. Deeeelish, but I ate all 6. Plus I had 4 tempura shrimp.
quote:The downside of that is, the sushi bar has a lovely lemon drop martini.
Yes, I had a lemon drop martini. Good gawd, it was like pure Absolut Citron. Just the one cocktail probably would've been a forgiveable sin.
But the night was young, Cara had a hard week, so after dinner we went to the Laughing Coyote for more drinks and pool. Total beverages for me: 1 vodka tonic (or was it 2?), 1 pint of beer.
quote: Tomorrow morning I have plans for shopping shopping shopping
Didn't guzzle water before bedtime. Woke up feeling rough and hungover. Still managed to be up by 8:30, and made breakfast: eggs (2 whites, 1 yolk), 2 strips of bacon (I know, I know...), and a tortilla.
quote: Looking for those khakis and jeans I didn't manage to get a few weeks ago.
Pretty much stuck to the plan: 1 pair khakis, 1 pair jeans (long and lean size 8!), 2 pairs of shorts, 1 shirt, 1 pair of shoes, 3 bras.
quote: might give my bud Amy a call while I'm in her neighborhood and see if she wants to walk Bell trail for a bit.
Amy's line was busy. Went to Creative Juices and got a small coffee smoothie for lunch - vanilla frozen yogurt + coffee.
quote:Then I'll be holed up in the coffeeshop, trying out WiFi and getting loads of web work done.
Hah! I spent the rest of the afternoon downloading upgrades and installing software, trying to get my wireless internet card to work. Never got to Ravenheart. Got about 30 minutes of web work done.
quote: I hope to finish the day by taking the pooch for a walk, and maybe getting those pb truffles made at last!
I did indeed make the truffles. I too, had to add a little additional honey, and pb to make it sticky enough. I also rolled them in cocoa, or ground almonds, or sesame seeds. Took Jerry for a short walk around the neighborhood.
Dinner was homemade pizzas. I used some organic crusts, and topped them with a spritz of olive oil, a few grates of pecorino romano, fresh rosemary and thyme, diced tomatoes, onions and shallots, arugula, and slices of buffalo mozzarella and hot italian turkey sausage. Had a glass of wine too.
Managed to squeeze in some pushups and crunches before I got in my jammies, and had a pb truffle and some decaf before bed.
quote: Sunday morning we're going on a nice 5 mile hike on my favorite trail.
I forgot I had a networking breakfast in the morning. I knew it was a "continental" breakfast, so I ate a homemade kashi-fruit bar before I left.
Good thing, because the selection was pretty icky. I still managed to have a mini muffin and a 1/3rd of a cheese danish (love those!) -- ack.
Met up with GF and her DS, and we got lunch. I got a tuna sandwich, but it was so runny and mayoey I hardly had any. I ate a decent portion of my fries however.
By the time we were done, it was about 1pm. Not the best time to start a hike in AZ. It was hot hot hot. But we drank lots of water and pressed on. Jerry hiked his stumpy lil legs right off.
When we got to the creek, it was full of college kids being loud drinking beer. (another good reason to get there early) After meandering around for a while, and me rolling my ankle, we finally found a relatively secluded shady spot to sit down.
I snacked on my impromtu trail mix of Triscuits, Wheat Thins, almonds, walnuts, and sesame seeds. We hopped on the boulders, cooled our feet in the water, and all that good stuff.
We headed back, and thankfully, it was cooler, now that it was late afternoon. After we got back to my house, we got on some bathing suits and crashed the hotel pool and hot tub. Ahhhhhh....
After a quick shower, we headed out for dinner and a movie. I got a sloppy joe and cole slaw. Luckily it was small, and I only had enough cole slaw to put on the sandwich. I also had a vanilla diet coke.
At the movies, I had raisinettes and some root beer. Ackkk... well, about half the box and a few sips of soda. It's weird, I think all that hiking kind of killed my appetite.
Overall, I guess I did "OK." I missed a few of my dietary goals, and pretty much all of my work & homework goals.
But I think that's the sacrifice for one of my newer goals -- trying to get in some more R&R, before I burn out.

Sunday: I will take a walk outside in the a.m. , hopefully I can talk my mom into coming with me. I will watch KD at 1:00. Then I plan on cooking some things for the week. I am making escarole and beans soup definitely and maybe another quiche. Then when my dh gets honme I plan on yaking my "girls" Amber and Tasha for a walk around the neighborhood and getting some yard work done. Hopefully after an early dinner I can get another walk in or do a bit on my treadmill. I need to get back into the swing of things.
It' supposed to rain here Saturday, but, if it's not pouring out, the "guys" and I are taking in the bike/walking path in the AM. They haven't had a good long walk all week, and are beginning to get antsy; and so am I. Too many conferences at the motel to swim enought this week. I really shouldn't complain when it's free....but do they have to put breakfast and lunch poolside?
In the PM, I am cleaning out the pantry and going for groceries, I think I'll speed through the aisles Tomorrow night, it's grill night...yeah!
Sunday, is a little quieter....but, I am going to the pool in the late afternoon and doubling my laps....then home to good fish.
It's never too late to get it right.

Its going to rain just about all weekend here . I am taking advantage of my vacation time and I'll head to trader joe's tomorrow for a good stock up. I'll probably shop at target also, since we don't have one around here. I'll get a lot of walking done while shopping. Sunday I don't have too many plans, except for hitting the laundrymat, but i always park really far away, and have to tote 2 weeks worth of clothes across the entire parking lot and back.

I LOVE doing makeup on people. I actually played at having a little side business doing that many years ago, but I am such a lousy salesperson that it never took off. I have done makeup on countless people over the years, though, and almost always enjoy it.

I'm finally home from a 10-day stint on the road, and I couldn't be more happy. The weather is beautiful, I emptied the house of bad stuff right before I left (and the boyfriend ate all the good stuff I left for him, yay!), so the fridge & pantry are just begging to be filled.
A chunk of Saturday will be spent driving & doing makeup for several girls for their prom, but we also plan to stop at Whole Foods (the nearest is about 2 hours away) on the way there. I haven't ever really explored the neighborhood where I'll be doing the makeup, so I hope to get a nice walk in after the makeover sessions are done.
Sunday will definitely be a planting day. A little late, but better than never. Should time allow, the dog & I will head over to the lake for a walk. I'm so happy to be home!
YAY I love weekends! (especially when I don't have academy)
My GF is coming over tonight. I might try and twist her arm so we can go get sushi. I haven't had any *real* sushi in months! The stuff at Safeway just isn't cutting it.
The downside of that is, the sushi bar has a lovely lemon drop martini.
Tomorrow morning I have plans for shopping shopping shopping (lots of time on my feet). Looking for those khakis and jeans I didn't manage to get a few weeks ago. I might give my bud Amy a call while I'm in her neighborhood and see if she wants to walk Bell trail for a bit.
Then I'll be holed up in the coffeeshop, trying out WiFi and getting loads of web work done. I hope to finish the day by taking the pooch for a walk, and maybe getting those pb truffles made at last!
Sunday morning we're going on a nice 5 mile hike on my favorite trail. It's been months since I've gone on a hike, so I'm really excited
