I love the clean new look of your kitchen. Way to go using a lot of what you had to re-make a calm new cooking haven!

Isn't wallpaper fun to remove? NOT! I will never use wallpaper againFrowner

It is too high to use as a prep area. (At least for me, I'm not quite 5'2".) The counter below it, next to the sink is where I do most of my prep work, so that I can have easy access to the sink and garbage disposer.

We don't use it as a breakfast bar, but there are people in our neighborhood with a similiar set up that do.

Typically, all of my fruit bowls are up there, and I have a 3-tiered plate holder where I also hold fruit and it goes up there.

I do like that it overlooks the family room, so I can stand at the kitchen sink and watch TV, or talk to DH and DS.

I looked at the "after" pictures for a few minutes before I posted the first response, deciding where I'd put my spice rack, where the knife magnet would go...and then realized you'd accomplished exactly what you mentioned in another thread about your house--making it so people can visualize their stuff in there. Good job on that Smiler

Thanks everyone. I am really pleased with the new look.

Also, what you can't see in the photos I took, is that the front of the breakfast bar had horizontal green and white striped wall paper. The kitchen was REALLY, really busy.

I can't believe I lived with that kitchen for 4 1/2 years. You can better believe, in the next house we buy, I'm going to have to like everything the way it is, because we are not good about getting around to changing things.

I still need to take down the window treatments. They don't really go.
