I recently saw a sweet movie called "Calendar Girls", based on real life, where women joined and posed nude for a calendar...I know what you are thinking, you are wondering what I'm going to have you do! (insert "evil" smiley here)
I want you to find empowerment in your image. You can either pose for a sexy photo of you, in which you feel sexy/empowered/liberated, (you can even just pretend you are having photos taken, if you aren't comfortable with having a rl nude photo) or look at yourself seriously in the mirror, and find, for every negative thing about your body, two positive things (or just aim for a total of four positive things...baby steps...)
Basically, I want you ladies and gents to celebrate your bodies, which are beautiful, and find things you really really like about your body.
grrlscout...glad you could enjoy Mount Vernon over the holidays. It has been rainy and windy for 3 days straight now...not so lovely and more on the way for days. Hope the river stays behind the dikes since we are only steps away!

Also, I was just in Mount Vernon for the holidays. Beautiful area! I really enjoyed it.
LOL, I thought the same thing at first. I read it boyfriend, then I saw husband, and thought, hmmmm, that's interesting, or maybe bf means something else, but what? It took me until the end to realize bf=best friend.

Congrats!!! That sounds like not only a really fun experience but a really affirming one too. Anything that makes us feel wonderful about ourselves is a GOOD thing...and if it makes your dh feel great too, that's a bonus!

I just had to tell you guys about my experience yesterday!
I went with my bf to have our pictures taken professionally for our dh's for Valentine's Day (Glamour Shots). It's the first time we've had them done since we've both lost weight.
I told my hubby it was a makeover and he still hasn't figured it all out.
Anyway, it was a wonderful experience (except the long wait) to have sexy, beautiful pictures taken. We had our hair done first and mine is naturally curly, but I wanted it in bigger curls so up it went in hot rollers. Then the makeup....I wear little to none on a regular basis, so this was a little strange. They took down the curlers..turned me around and everyone in the room was oohing and awing and telling me how gorgeous I am. What a feeling!
Then they brought me a mirror and I couldn't even look...it was sooooo different. All the ladies were calling me Olivia Newton John. It was the strangest but most wonderful feeling. I did look HOT!!!
Then we had our pictures done and we each got to pick 4 outfits. It was a lot of fun even if the photographer was a little moody.
Next we viewed our pictures and I am still in shock at how great I looked in them. My hubby is going to love them.
When we got home, my bf wanted to see dh's reaction, so she came in the garage with me and all he could say was "Oh my!". We had dinner with friends and he wanted to me to keep on the makeup which was a surprise to them too.
It's amazing what a ton of makeup can do for you
The experience made me appreciate my new body even more and I think it was the first time since I have lost all the weight that I felt sexy and skinny!

I feel pretty good about my body most days. I have great eyes, freckles and hair. I would list the parts that DH likes the most but I do not want to risk giving TMI. I am comfortable with what I see in the mirror, even with the areas that need improvement.
Enjoy every minute!

Long Term Goal: Weigh-in at 180 lbs by my next Birthday. (Sept-13/06)

I loved Calendar Girls! I'm comfortable with my body, no matter what size it has been. I love my curves, my eyes, my hair now that I'm growing it out, and my hands.

Confidence is what makes someone sexy - hence the power of that movie.
I love my hair - naturally red and silky. I have great legs and powerful hips (and cute toes!) I am not small and never will be, but I feel sexiest and powerful when I am dancing. I don't have any formal training, but am very good at creating allure and mystic when I dance.
I think curves are sexy, too - I just typically think they looks better on other women than mine do on me! I also think we are trained to not "brag" and that it is acceptable to beat up on yourself to fish for compliments. FORGET THAT!!!
Everything counts.

I had a friend take sexy photos of me in lingerie to send to a beau about 2-3 years ago. I ain't postin' 'em here!!! LOL ('sides, it was pre weight loss)
While I would love my self esteem in my body to be better, I am comfortable looking at myself naked in the mirror and do that at least every few months to take stock of how things are looking (either improving or not).

Empowered - a few weeks into fire academy. I had lost some weight, and was gaining a good deal of tone, and doing stuff I never thought I'd be able to ... though this one might fit into the "sexy" category as well
Liberated - This is my most recent shot. I gained back a few pounds, lost some of my muscle tone, but I still felt good about my body, and showed it off.
Originally posted by TriGirl: I was disappointed that in the recent movie made from the book "In Her Shoes," Toni Collette's character was barely larger than Cameron Diaz's, when one of the major points of Rose's character was supposed to be that she became comfortable with a larger body.
I didn't see the movie of "In Her Shoes" and didn't even make it all the way through the book, but I completely agree. It bugs me to no end that Toni Collette plays "the fat girl" in several movies...characters who are portrayed as lonely and unlovable...and she is still smaller than the average American woman. Hollywood has a totally skewed sense of what a "real woman" looks like.
I think the only way they are comfortable portraying "fat" is to have a stick like Gwynneth Paltrow in a rubber fat suit.
Yeah, like Renee Zelweger in "Bridgette Jones" when she's supposed to be fat and fattens up to a size 8 or 10. PLEASE! She actually looks healthy in those movies.

I saw just part of it in my women's studies class and it was really sad to see all these fabulous actresses who can't find work because there are no roles -- I am happy that there are starting to be a few movies where older women (unfortunately, in Hollywood, "older" is anything over 30) are love interests. "Must Love Dogs" and the one with Dianne Keaton and Jack Nicholson were both really good.

I knew a guy like this years ago...on one of my online boards. He was a former athelete who was quite handsome despite the fact that he had packed on quite a lot of pounds. He had a huge rotund beer belly and a double chin. One night, he was telling me he bedded this 22-yo girl from our group (he was in his mid-30s) and that "She was cute but could stand to lose some weight...her butt jiggled." I knew of this girl and she was maybe a size 8.
