Thanks Jill. I have three books thanks to my dh and a gift card to Barnes and Noble. I have two historic fiction books and Eat, Love, Pray. Some people have suggested though that I'll be too drowsy from pain meds to be able to read but we'll see.

We also have four new Netflix movies that just arrived.

I just can't imagine sitting around if I'm feeling even 1/2 way decent although maybe the pain meds will knock me on my *ss.

I'm starting to get really, really anxious about surgery tomorrow.

I'm as prepared as I can be - my freezer and fridge are stocked with healthy foods, my house is clean, laundry is done, plants are watered, the last errand was run this morning and I have my pain meds in the house.

Now I'm just sitting around trying very hard not to think about the details of tomorrow.

I wish I had a crystal ball to know how bad I'll be feeling tomorrow and the rest of the first week but from what everyone says, it's too variable to predict person to person (other than the first 72 hours being the worse).

I'm also worried that I'm going to go stir crazy in the house. I won't be able to drive for weeks and the person I was relying on to take me to the rec center and out of the house in general, is having her own crisis. I'm probably going to resort to walking outside when the weather permits or doing laps around my house if I get desperate.

I'm also not sure what I'm going to do without my running - it's such a stress reliever for me that I almost cried when I finished this morning's run knowing that it will be the last one for two months.

I also won't be able to journal as I can't write lefty at all which is another big stress reliever for me. I also suck at typing with my left hand and using the touch pad so I probably won't be on the computer much either.

In general, I'm feeling horribly uneasy about the whole process - surgery and recovery and all the side effects of not having a usable right arm for 6 weeks.

Dawn - I hope your kitty has some some more good quality time left with you and your family.
My neighbor thought for sure her cat was going to die last year (he has some kind of cancer) but he's still going strong and doesn't seem to be suffering at all so don't give up hope!

Oh, Dawn, I'm so sorry about your kitty! It is so hard to lose an old friend! We have a 16 year old cat that I am always thankful for another day with her. Each morning I go, first thing, and check to make sure she is still breathing.....she sleeps with our middle daughter, and Hannah would be DEVASTATED to find a dead cat in her bed....she'll be devastated when she dies, but if she were to find her in her bed in that state it would be HORRIBLE! But I am always thankful each morning to know that we have one more day to love on our old friend.

Praying for you and your kitty! And I totally understand also about having to make hard decisions about treatment/diagnostics on a cat so elderly.....we had to make some hard decisions a couple of years ago when one of our cats (he was 14) was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He died naturally, at home about 3 months after he was diagnosed, and just a day before Don was going to take him to have him put to sleep (his health was deteriating very quickly, and we think he was having little mini seizures).

Anyhow, I'll be praying for you!

Blessings,

Lori

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling a little better. Mostly, I've been very busy all day cleaning and cooking for the party tomorrow.

Oh, Dawn,

I'm so sorry. Darn those animals. They pull at our hearts so much. And they are no diffferent from people to those of us who have animals - we feel bad when they are sick or hurt and can't tell us where or how.

Sending cyber hugs by the bunches.

Oh, Dawn! I know how you feel. I have lost several pets. Mostly kitties.

1. Stop thinking like a chronic dieter and start living to inspire.
2. HALT (hungry, anxious, lonely, tired) I will stop and tune in with myself should I experience these things, and respond with something healthy.

I'm really heartbroken. Our cat of 13 years is not at all well. He has an enlarged heart and possibly some other issues, like a tumor. We can get an ultrasound done to find out exactly what it is, but it may not be treatable. It may be. The ultrasound is going to be pretty expensive, particularly on the heels of having blood work and X-rays done.

I got him as a Christmas present 13 years ago for DH, and now we're finding out at Christmas that he may not be with us much longer.

I'm trying to hold it together and get things done since we're having this party tomorrow.

Ok, I'm crying again.

Dawn

Did you mean AE 170?

Yep! It was late. I'm not doing well with my glasses lately - need new ones.

Thanks for the report and the encouragement.

...so he got me an Accusplit AE 70. It has a 5 year warranty. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who may have experience with this brand.

Did you mean AE 170?

YAMAX of Japan is said to manufacture the best mechanical pedometers. I have one sold under the New Lifestyles Digi-Walker brand name.

One online source states:

"The Digiwalker 701, Accusplit Eagle 170, and My Life Stepper Model MLS 7010 are the same pedometers, manufactured by Yamax and labeled for US vendors."

Accusplit's web site states:

"AE100 Series: High quality pedometers with top-rated accuracy - based on Japanese engineering.

The AE100 series pedometers use the JW200 PedometerEngine step sensor (also known as Digi-Walker), long used in academic research both in the US and also Japan. These products are among the most accurate available, and are built to high standards of quality."

My pedometer has "YAMAX made in Japan" on the back of it. Mine is a great pedometer, but I only got a one year warranty.

For some reason, I usually hesitate to initiate a new journal. Do I fear marring it? I'm not sure. I'm taking the jump in this case.

I'm very proud of myself today. I got home from Indianapolis late last night and was told to call my walking buddy. She was calling off. This entire past year, if she called off, I'd sleep in. Well, this morning I got up and walked. I didn't get very far - I had to stop to explain why I was by myself - but I did it.

Bill got me a (hopefully) good pedometer for Christmas (at my specific requiest). I had asked for an Omron but he could not find that brand so he got me an Accusplit AE 70. It has a 5 year warranty. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who may have experience with this brand.

To a healthy new year for all of us.

Linda
