Did anyone see Oprah today? She and Bob Greene had traveled to MS (I have no idea when they came down here!! Boo-Hoo!! LOL!!)
Mississippi has the highest obesity rate in the nation!!! Whoo-Hoo!!! Ain't that just grand?!?!?!? (BTW, I'm being sarcastic )
The people on the show were such an inspiration though. One person on the show is from an area near here and is doing very well in their journey to get healthy and live a better life.
I received a membership (w/1 year fees pd) to a Wellness Center for Christmas. I'm so excited. I have an appointment where they will assess my fitness level....take my blood pressure, monitor my heart rate, stress test on an exercise bike, create a plan of what I need to work on the most and so on.... I can't wait!!!!
My health assessment and first workout at the Wellness Center was today. I really enjoyed it. Everyone was very nice and friendly. My health assessment went very well and the gal who did it was extremely nice & helpful and really listened to all I had to say.
They took my blood pressure & heart rate, weighed me (joy, joy .... at least they didn't measure me!! LOL!!!!), did a strength test and flexibility test (my bones popped at one point!!!! LOL!!!!!!) and also did a stress test on an exercise bike. Oh, and they did a "fat measurement test"...what is that called?!?!? My mind just went blank.
The funny thing is at the very end of the stress test, it was almost over....the computer FROZE up and rebooted and didn't save my test info....
The girl said we could do another one on another day or wait until my 3 month assessment.
I was pretty healthy and in healthy ranges (although I'm currently at the "high" end of the ranges). She told me she would like me to only loose 7 pounds.......I would personally like to loose about 10 or 15.
She then made me a plan for cardio & strength training.....Cardio at least 5 days/week and strength training 2 - 3 days per week but not on consecutive days.
I'm also meeting with the dietician on Monday (I think). She was asking me about my "diet" and I told her that I knew what to do (IMHO) but I just need to make myself do it. She told me that every member has 1 free session with the dietician if they wish and since I have low blood sugar, I told her to go ahead & set me up an appointment. I couldn't hurt and might help.
She went through everything with me and even wrote on my chart cards what setting I need to set the seats/leg adjustments on as well as what weight I need to do on each machine.

Hi everyone!!!
I'm so excited about tomorrow. I think I'm almost more excited about the health accessment and game plan than starting the exercising there. I've been doing a bit here at home but I'm looking forward to the advice and instruction.
This place has so much to offer other than just the weights & weight machines. They have an indoor & outdoor walking/running tracks, pool, and various exercise classes. I want to look into yoga.
Sounds like a great place-enjoy!
As far as the overweight/obese thing. I am 5'7" and weigh 190 lbs. I currently wear a size 14. I am, based on medical charts, considered obese.

I have no specific goal(s) right now. I am trying to find the spiritual side of myself that I lost somewhere along the way.
