Ok-update on the No Pudge ice cream bars. I finally tried one and I am very bummed. They leave a very Splenda flavored aftertaste and the wooden stick had a very strong smell which affected the taste of the ice cream bar. I used to use Splenda all the time but haven't since the summer except in the occasional diet soda-I really notice the taste of it and don't like it. So anyway, the bars are not my favorite.

(sigh)

First, it was the whole wheat Boboli's that disappeared from stores here (store managers say they weren't selling).

Then, I found a wholegrain pizza shell in the frozen foods section of Whole Foods that I had been using for the past 6 months or so.

Now, my Whole Foods has relocated and they are no longer carrying the pizza shell. (sigh) I talked to the frozen foods guy today and he said management is trying new products and that the pizza shell MAY come back in the future. I told him that a lot of folks who are eating healthy love pizza but want a healthier crust and that this was the only thing I could find since stores stopped carrying the ww Boboli. He seemed sympathetic but I know the decision isn't up to him. We'll see if it comes back.

So I'm back to square one. This sucks. I guess I will try the whole wheat pizza dough at Trader Joe's next.

This weekend I found "Mr. Krispers" Baked Rice Crips. Made from organic brown rice. I'm eating the sour cream and onion flavor right now.

1oz. has:
110 calories
3.5 grams of fat (no saturated or trans fat.)
1 gr. of fiber

Not SUPER good health wise, but much much better than potato chips and they taste really good.

Very tasty and for me takes care of the salty/crunchy craving.

Blue Bunny Lite 85 Yogurt

I usually just get the store brand FF yogurt, cuz it's cheap, until someone mentioned the amounts of high fructose corn syrup found in many varieties. Then I started checking out labels a little more thoroughly.

Recently, Lite 85 yogurt went on sale, so I gave it a look. Not bad! No HFCS. It dose have sucralose (generic name of Splenda), if you don't go for that. Here are the stats on the vanilla, per 6oz serving:

80 cals
0 fat
1% cholesterol
90mg sodium
260 mg potassium
13g carbs
- 8g sugars
6g protein
10% vitamin A
20% calcium
25% vitamin D

Note: because of the added sweetener, it is a bit on the sweet side, I think.

I use the "Nature's Promise" broths in the box, low sodium, they have great flavor and compared to the other low sodium brands Nature's Promise had the lowest mg/serving.
I also bought another "new" product for me, also Nature's Promise. They have granola bars, I bought the chocolate chip and the raspberry. DD always gets up late and many times doesn't have time for breakfast so I thought these would be good for her so she has something in her stomach before school.

I have an old Rabies Vaccination Tag on my keychain, so I have a memento of Precious Doggie with me at all times. Smiler

I imagine that it's been available for many years, but recently picked up the "75% less sodium" version of V-8 juice.

Hehe... no they are mid-atlantic only. I used to shop there when I lived in the DC area.

Still have the savings card on my keychain. People look at that weird since, here, Giant is a gas station.

I knew there was a thread somewhere about new products and here it is!

I wanted to share with anyone who like No Pudge products(I've only ever seen their brownies). At our local Giant I found No Pudge Ice cream products, they had cones similar to a Nutty Buddy, and I bought the No Pudge chocolate sundae bar(I could have the name wrong), one bar is 120 cals, 2.5 grams of fat, I haven't had one yet but I know the box will be open before the end of the day!
Jill
I checked the box, they are called giant cookies and cream bars, No Pudge Brand, and they are 100 cals/serving, not 120

I heard the owner of this business interviewed on the radio this past Sunday.

http://www.holyorders.biz/

Almost all of the products are made by monks or nuns in monestaries.

I thought some of the items (soap, candles) might make a good reward. (I've never bought anything from them...)

I could also see that I would be a little more mindful while using the honey. Something about knowing that the monk who helped make it was praying the entire time he was working... I think that might stop me from wanting to glob it on, like I want to do with the Sue Bee in the plastic squeeze bottle. Smiler

Even though we love brown rice and whole wheat breads, we have never really cared for whole wheat pastas. I found the Barilla PLUS angel hair pasta at the store the other day and cooked it for DS & myself tonight. (DH is still on liquids & soups). We both loved it!!! You could tell that it wasn't "regular" pasta but the texture was a LOT better than whole wheat.

According to the package it is made with multi-grains, a good source of Fiber & protein and rich in heart healthy Omega-3.

Per 2oz. serving:

200 cals. (10 from fat)
0 saturated & trans fats & cholesterol
25 mg sodium
38g carbs (4g fiber, 1g sugar)
10g Protein

Daily value %:

Calcium 2%
Iron 10%
Thiamin 35%
Riboflavin 15%
Niacin 15%
Folate 30%

Barilla

Kind of a re-discovery for me -- I haven't bought them in a while because of the price ($2.99) a box -- Ak-Mak Sesame Crackers.

Crisp, light, toasty -- yummy! Low cal, low fat, lots fiber, 100% whole wheat. The stats:

serving size : 5 1oz crackers
cals: 116
fat cals: 20
total fat: 2.27g
sat fat: .48g
carbs: 19g
dietary fiber: 3.5g
sugars: 2.28g
protein: 4.61g
iron: 6%

I like having one with a tsp of natural pb spread on it for a late afternoon snack.

Also, I introduced (anti-low fat products) GF to neufchatel cheese, and she gave it her stamp of approval. Still not exactly low fat, but it has 1/3 less fat than regular cream cheese.

Wheatables also got her OK. They aren't 100% whole wheat, but partially whole wheat -- so a decent compromise.

Ditto that for Edy's only coming in half gallon containers here on the East Coast. I will only bring home a pint size container so I have to stick with the dwindling brands that come in the pint. My favorite ice cream to buy in the pint size had been Edy's Dreamery but it appears they have discontinued that because it's all gone from my local Giant. Frowner

We served it this weekend on top of No-Pudge brownies, strawberries and Cool Whip and we got 6 servings of ice cream from one pint. Smiler

Edy's/Dreyer's Grand Light ice cream. The new Haagen-Daz stuff uses the exact same "slow-churn" techniques they first perfected on the Edy's/Dreyer's stuff-- and Edy's Dreyer's clocks in at half the calories of Haagen-Daz. I heard about it over at Hungry-Girl.com... much like other things.

Personally, my most recent love affair has to be with Shirataki Noodle Shaped Tofu-- the kind shaped like fettucini. Finally, a way to actually have the cheesiest fettucini alfredo and be able to fit it into my diet-- because the noodles are practically free. The only problem with 'em is that I have to roam far afield to find them-- the closest Whole Foods doesn't stock them. (Grrr.)

Well, its not exactly "healthy" but...

Reed's Ginger Ice Cream. Yum.

I've recently discovered those crunchy dried fruits and veggies...yummy! (and pricey too!)

For lower-fat, Stoneyfield Farms makes a decent low-fat frozen yogurt.

Yummmm Smiler

I am pretty into my silicone bakeware. It makes clean up easier than before. I never pam butter or Pam in the pan and have had great results. I bake a fair amount as dd and dh like my baked stuff for breakfast- I keep it healthy and still flavorful.

We have also tried it. I haven't tried the chocolate... as my family doesn't like chocolate ice cream... Roll Eyes

I have tried the coffee flavor - OMGosh! it was good... too good... I'm the only one in the house who likes coffee ice cream. I was laid up with my leg and took the pint to bed with me. First time I have eaten the whole pint in about a year, I think.

We tried the Dulce le carmel flavor last night. That was a big hit.

We have also tried the vanilla flavor. I don't care for it... I thought that it didn't have the right mouth feel, but dh and ds both thought it was ok.
