This isn't actually a new product, but it is new to me and I love it. It is Muir Glen fire-roasted organic tomatoes. I made Kd's Ribolita out of the blue book and used these tomatoes for the first time. I thought it was the best soup ever! Then I made another soup recipe with them and realized that it wasn't so much that the soup was better than all the rest, but that the tomatoes were.

They have them at Costco for slightly more than regular canned tomatoes. They are well worth the extra money.

The Weight Watchers 3 bite chocolate cake is not very good. Tastes like chocolate cardboard. It might do the trick if you are desparate, but I have had a box sitting on top of the fridge for about 4 months now and have only eaten two. I suppose I should just toss them.

I made brownies with Hershey's Special DARK cocoa powder... yum.

Think it might have more anti-oxygents... that's what I'm telling myself, anyway. Smiler

Thanks for the suggestion to send an email. I hadn't thought of that. I just went to the WF website and sent an email explaining about the move of the store and the change in products.

THANK YOU, DAWN!!! I just got an email from Whole Foods saying they have brought back the Alvarado St. frozen wholegrain pizza shells as a result of my email through the WF website!

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!

(And how apropos that I got this email after eating 2 slices of pizza made with the last quarter of Alvarado St. pizza shell I had in my freezer!)

Wow, I have seen some Weight Watchers candy bars or something near the checkout in my grocery store, but don't recall seeing mini-cakes. Considering how often I get cravings for baked goods, that would be a good thing to try! Did you find them in the bakery section, like near the breads, or where?

I am in LOVE all over again. Weight Watchers came out with these boxes of mini cakes--lemon and carrot. I have REALLY been loving the lemon and decided to pick up the carrot.

Let me tell you it is SO great. It is a 3 bite cake with icing and all...for those that are on WW they are 1 point! I really enjoy having these.

Anyone tried them?

Will do, thanks.

Nope. Still don't like it. I bought a single bottle out of a machine yesterday. It did not have as strong a lemon taste as the canned ones but it still has a strange taste to it. I will stick with the regular Diet Coke. The way my luck has been going lately, they will probably quit making it with Equal. Frowner

I'm so excited! I finally found an ice cream treat without partially hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup! They are called Organic Soy Delicious Li'l Buddies. I got the Mint bars and they were awesome! They only have 10 more calories than my artifical lf ice cream threat and the same amount of fat so I'm thrilled : )

I'm also excited that they are dairy free as we definitely do better without dairy in our house (or with a minimal amount) : )

It tasted like it had lemon in it but it was not a good lemon taste. Dd likes lemon in her Diet Coke but she did not like this either. She said it did not taste like the Diet Coke w/Lemon that is labeled that way.

Uncle Ben's Ready Rice

Lately I've been buying the brown rice variety.

At first I balked at the price - between $2-$3 per bag (2 cups, cooked). Pound for pound, the markup is HUGE, compared to raw rice.

It also has a couple of "extras" that I might not have included, had I made it myself, in the form of oil and Acetylated Monoglyceride (??).

HOWEVER, making brown rice is a huge labor for me, even when I make it in the microwave. And it's always just for me, since the rest of the fam will only eat white rice.

With the Ready Rice, you squish the bag, cut the top off, and microwave for 1.5 minutes. DONE.

So to me, the extra cash and 4g of fat is worth it for the convenience. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't eat brown rice at all, or very infrequently.

Here are the stats:

I like an occasional diet coke with meals and I also like Fruit 2o water (which is sweetened with Splenda) so when I saw a carton of diet cokes with splenda when shopping for dd's groceries I picked up a carton. YUCK! They were horrible! It tastes like it has lemon in it but without any sweetner. I don't know if it is a result of using splenda instead of equal or not but I really don't think so. I use other products that have splenda in them and I use splenda in my tea and they don't have that horrible lemon taste. I kept re-examining the cans and the package to make absolutely sure I did not accidently pick up the lemon diet coke but it doesn't say lemon on it anywhere. I had bought 2 cartons and we suffered through the one we opened but I took the second one back to the store and swapped it.

I had forgotten, until I read your description, that I had tried these! Someone bought them for one of our office birthday parties last year...I can't think of what to call the one I tried but it was chocolate and had like sprinkles on the outside. What you described is EXACTLY what I thought when I tasted it. I was SO disappointed and I did not think it was something I would want to eat again. I was so happy that I'd had an opportunity to try one at work instead of having bought a whole box of them here at home.

Thanks for the suggestion to send an email. I hadn't thought of that. I just went to the WF website and sent an email explaining about the move of the store and the change in products. I reminded them that, while the new demographic of the historic district may be lucrative, those of us who were loyal, weekly customers of the old store should matter too.

Sheri,

Can you tell a manager? Or send Whole Foods an email? If enough people ask for it, they may bring it back.

My experience with Whole Foods is that they are very responsive. The grocery store industry is SUPER competetive, so they need to be.

Ok-update on the No Pudge ice cream bars. I finally tried one and I am very bummed. They leave a very Splenda flavored aftertaste and the wooden stick had a very strong smell which affected the taste of the ice cream bar. I used to use Splenda all the time but haven't since the summer except in the occasional diet soda-I really notice the taste of it and don't like it. So anyway, the bars are not my favorite.

(sigh)

First, it was the whole wheat Boboli's that disappeared from stores here (store managers say they weren't selling).

Then, I found a wholegrain pizza shell in the frozen foods section of Whole Foods that I had been using for the past 6 months or so.

Now, my Whole Foods has relocated and they are no longer carrying the pizza shell. (sigh) I talked to the frozen foods guy today and he said management is trying new products and that the pizza shell MAY come back in the future. I told him that a lot of folks who are eating healthy love pizza but want a healthier crust and that this was the only thing I could find since stores stopped carrying the ww Boboli. He seemed sympathetic but I know the decision isn't up to him. We'll see if it comes back.

So I'm back to square one. This sucks. I guess I will try the whole wheat pizza dough at Trader Joe's next.

This weekend I found "Mr. Krispers" Baked Rice Crips. Made from organic brown rice. I'm eating the sour cream and onion flavor right now.

1oz. has:
110 calories
3.5 grams of fat (no saturated or trans fat.)
1 gr. of fiber

Not SUPER good health wise, but much much better than potato chips and they taste really good.

Very tasty and for me takes care of the salty/crunchy craving.
