ok, tomorrow, Monday, my hours are getting very odd. I'm working 1-5 and then 6-9. I need to figure out something healthy and filling and quick to eat in that one-hour period, preferably something I don't have to heat up and can take with me, because I am going from one library to the other...closing down the one and going to the other for circ desk work.

And both are the other direction entirely from my house.

Cathy's suggestion is the way I handle those days like the one you will have today. Dinner is the comfort meal of the day and when I have to eat it in a break room at work, it's bummer. I'd rather do a salad at work and have a nicer meal at home for lunch. Lately I also try to have atleast one "special" ingredient on my work meals that makes them something to look forward to.
Here's good salad I have been grabbing on the go lately:
Spicy Shrimp salad: Grab frozen shrimp from the freezer, defrost and toss with chili powder and a tiny bit of olive oil. Saute 4 min per side, place in a zip lock to go. Salad: greens of your choice, tomatoes, corn, avocado. (The avocado gets cut up with a squeeze of lime to stay fresh). For dressing: oil and vinegar - try rice wine vinegar/sesame oil. Yum.

Have a great day, Cate!

Most of my choices in this situation involve wheat... which I know won't work for you.

You are the person most familar with your food limitations and what you can and can't eat and what you enjoy and don't enjoy.
Smiler

And you have enough common sense to know what will work for you. Smiler

Cate,
I'm big into salads these days. Top with whatever you like. You can store with an ice pack or in work's fridge.
Maybe sit down in a park, rest, eat and chill between 5 and 6.

I would highly suggest switching lunch and dinner around. I don't know what you eat for lunch, but in my world it's usually not a warm meat. I would switch those two around, have your bigger warm meal before going to work, and then have a smaller cold meal in the hour between. You might even have time for a short decompressing walk that way. How about a wrap, with vegies and a fruit bowl from home? I am learning to combine yogurt with the fresh fruits I see in the market, and it's pretty filling in the bowl I use. Just a suggestion. Good luck with the new schedule.

It's never too late to get it right.
